AC Clutch

Is a AC Clutch supposed to engage when the heat is on? I put it on Floor with the heat all the way on and I noticed my AC Compressor still kicks in ....

Re: AC Clutch

I believe it should...if you think about it something has to compress the air enough to blow it out.

Re: AC Clutch

uh?? :stupid:

The Clutch on the AC Compressor has nothing to do with the Blower in the Dash.

See when the Temp needs to be cold the A/C Compressor Kicks in to Compress the R134 into a Liquid then it goes to the area where the blower is and Evaporates into a gas that Draws the heat out of the air, this seems to defeat the logic of heating the car.

I think what I will do is Disconnect the Power to the Compressor in the winter.

Re: AC Clutch

Reminder:

It's a good idea to run your A/C a few times in the winter, just to keep oil on all the seals and O-rings. It would suck to kick the A/C on for the first time in the summer only to find out that you lost your refrigerant charge to a dried out O-ring.

(sorry, slightly off topic)

Re: AC Clutch

Its not like the A/C Pump runs alot, just every now and then for a few seconds... Like it is just maintaining a little presure. Being in Las Vegas I run the A\C 9 months out of the year and sometimes more, Maybe it forgot that in the Cold it needs to not run
