American Muscle has Vortechs!

I just checked American Muscle's "new products" and they now carry Vortech superchargers for 99-03 v6's. It's the V-3 S trim, a self lubricating unit, and runs at a conservative 8-9 lbs. Re-flash and upgraded injectors included...

I'm glad to see American Muscle is expanding their inventory like this...a big player in the mustang modding market expanding their v6 options is always a good thing

Good question...I would think you could since there isn't a significant difference from the 99-03 3.8.

Vortech and Procharger both claim that you can simpy bolt on their kits (with bigger fuel injectors, retune and fuel upgrades) and safely run the car at 9 PSI.

I'd think you'd want to have new gears and tlok at a minimum. The 7.5" with upgraded components should be able to handle 278 rwhp, but an 8.8" is always a safe bet.

Not being rude but I dont see the point in spending all that money for only 278HP. Save the money and put it towards a motor swap or a gt or Cobra.

This is very true...I personally wouldn't do it (right now anyways)...there are quite a few older GT's for sale for 4200 that I'd probably buy before the supercharger. But I just thought it was interesting that American Muscle is carrying them for the v6, and for the people that do want to supercharge their v6, and this isn't a bad option...it's safe and from a reputable vendor.

Really, when you think about it, when considering the stock 3.8 output...~160 rwhp give or take auto vs manual...278 rwhp is a pretty good gain for the money.
278 rwhp is good...for these v6 mustangs. You'll be able to outrun all the other v6 mustangs, as well as compete with 94-98 GT's, and hang with 99-04 GT's.

That's more than 50whp than the GT of the same year, even if you found a GT of that year for 4200 you'd get raped by the v6. The only thing you get with the GT in this circumstance is a noise.

Re: American Muscle has Vortechs!

Well, as far as spending the money, I'd probably spend it on or towards a v8 car. There are a few decent 99-04 GT's up here for around 5k. 99/01 cobras for 7k. I'd rather have the v8 noise and the platform right now.

In terms of performance, as I said before, 278 rwhp is a pretty good chunk of hp gained. Figure a 98 GT has 170 rwhp, and a 99-04 GT has 230 rwhp in stock form...I'm definitely leaning towards the v6 outruning them...for a while anyways. It's not a bad buy considering the gains. I agree with you in terms of performance. I'm guessing you can handle a 94-96 GT fairly well without a supercharger.

That's true, think about the future, the cobra or even the GT will be able to handle more mods in the long run.

Some people don't want a crazy amount of HP !!! And they enjoy the extra HP they can get out of a v6 it's a labor of love Anyone can get HP from V8

Get the 8.8 !! 7.5 can hold up But not for long
