Re: 96 eaton m90 swap

i thought on a 96 you could keep your heads cause they were also single port! i kow my moodel we have split port heads and for me to do the m90 swap i would have had to down graded to single port heads which we have cost me power to,,,,well gain power lol! anyway on mine i had to switch heads cause i didnt have single port heads YOU DO so why did u have to change them or did you just decide the othere heads were in better shape? and im not sure about why it want fire! i would honeslty put it in the shop and just pay to have it done from this point!

Re: 96 eaton m90 swap

i had the intake on the mustang heads but 2 bolt holes didnt line up i was going to put it on any way but someone told me the sc heads are better flowing and have bigger valves so thats the reason for the head change. now i need a throttle cable off of a 5.0 or a 4.6 mustang and customizing an intake. i will take pics and post them tomorrow the way it sits now

Re: 96 eaton m90 swap

Quick question , i have all the parts to do a swap on my 96 mustang with the eaton m90 as well . Can i use my stock harmonic balancer ? and do i have to change my power steering pulley ? just trying to get everything figured out 100% before i start so there is no surprises .

Re: 96 eaton m90 swap

first off i will tell you its 100% easier just to drop the entire supercoupe engine in the mustang. things changed from the 95 stangs to the 96 which makes it harder to do. i had the entire sc engine to play with for the swap. my first problem was 2 bolts didnt line up when i was bolting the intake manifold to the heads. i was going to go ahead as planned but a guy that knows alot about the sc engine said the sc heads are better flowing because they were made for the supercharged engine. so i changed the heads and everything bolted up fine. 2nd was the water pump the supercharger belt comes to close and will rub the hose that goes to the water pump and the sc water pump will not bolt up so you will have to modify it i used a 90 fitting u will see what i mean. as for the pullies i cant remember why but i had to change them and i changed everything even the brackets. if you have the supercoupe radiator great if not you can use the one on the mustang but you have to take the fan off turn it and bolt it back on to make room for the intercooler.and im sure you know along the way you will have to rewire a few sensors and extend some wires. and there are things im forgetting but when and if you run into a problem just ask me and ill help as much as i can

Re: 96 eaton m90 swap

I have everything , jack shaft bracket , power steering bracket , harmonic balancer pulley , all tensioners , maf sensor , tp sensor , throttle body, injectors, all tubing , intake , and the timing cover from the supercharged engine . i need a alt. , thermostat housing , tap covers , and supercharged water pump because it has the extra inlet-outlets on it (which is a bummer because i just replaced the stock one with a new one ) .

Re: 96 eaton m90 swap

if u find a water pump that has the extra outlets let me know because i looked everywhere and cross referenced part numbers and i couldnt find one that would work i tried the one off the s\c engine but it wouldnt bolt up thats why i had to fab mine. do u have the heads off the s\c engine or are u just porting the stang heads

Re: 96 eaton m90 swap

Since i am using the supercharged engines timing cover the supercharged water pump bolts up normally , i picked up the timing cover for 30 bucks shipped from ebay . I'm just going to use my original heads because in order to use the supercharger intake you have to have single port heads which 96 is the last year that had the single ports on them . I'm going to port and polish them. i would just change the heads but i can't find any used ones for a cheap price . how did you fab your water pump ? just tap out the two extra inlet and outlet holes and put fittings in them ?

Re: 96 eaton m90 swap

the 96 water pump only has 1 outlet since the outlet would hit the belt and i didnt think the cover off the sc would work i just took the strait fitting out of the pump and replaced it with a 90 fitting and im taking the temp sensor housing off and replacing it with one that has an outlet.
