Re: auto dyno sheet?

Generally the parasitic loss is 10-20%, with 20% being on the high end...I've heard that the percentage increases as horsepower does, but I think that's bull, parasitic loss is a flat line, not a curve. That being said, I'd say 20% is safe with an auto.

So 193 hp at the crank times 20% parasitic loss equals ~ 154.4 rwhp for an auto 3.9.
Torque is 225 times 20% equals 180 rwtq.

This could fluctuate based on many variables - temperature, the car itself, that particular run, etc.

Re: auto dyno sheet?

Yah that's about right considering your mods. Did they just do one run?

How conservative or wild is your tune? I'm guessing it's tuned for 87 octane, so it can't be too crazy, so then the gains won't be too high.

Gears don't add anything, tune is about right.

Re: auto dyno sheet?

A good dyno tune can get you around 185-190 hp thru a auto. However, that is a 93 tune that is pretty aggresive. I think 210ish was the torque on that car as well.

Re: auto dyno sheet?

A stock 99-04 Mustang dynos:

Auto Transmission (22% drive train loss~):
150rwhp/175rwtq

Manual Transmission (17.5% drive train loss~):
160rwhp/180rwtq

PLEASE REMEMBER. A dyno is not 100% accurate... they all are calibrated so who really knows. There are different types of dynos and on different days and different altitudes it can vary. It is all relative to setup and where you are and the conditions on that day. Its only a tool to help you ensure your car is running well and has around about the power it should. A dyno should be calibrated to remove these so its set to "Standard" or SAE. So all dynos should read close to the same but.. thats not hoe the real world works of course lol.

With the numbers you posted, your basically at stock levels, but as said above its all relative. Some dyno types are known to read lower/higher than others.

What timing is on the car and what is the A/F, 93 tune? If your not happy you can get your money back and order a tune from VMP or someone that KNOWS v6 mustangs and had tuned a TON of them.

How can someone tune your car for 91 octane when you didnt even have it in the car.. the more i read the more fishy its smelling... makes me wonder if they just loaded a can tune, dynoed it and gave you the numbers it made without doing anything to modify the tune~

That's my guess as well...that they loaded a canned 87 tune into the car because a dyno tune for 91 running 89 would cause detonation.

If they did really dyno tune the car, then they dyno tuned it for 89 for the reason just stated above...either that or the shop is not one you should trust.

Re: auto dyno sheet?

I see in the title you said your car was an auto so you did pick up some power~ but with your mods if the numbers are corrected they should be around 170rwhp/190rwtq~ at least I would think.

VMP also does great tuning for auto trans make a HUGE difference in shifting and shaves time off the car just with that kinda like how gears dont add power but make the car faster.

Re: auto dyno sheet?

drove around all day looking for 91 octane. dont have that around here. you said detonation and now im worried. i put 93 octane in my tank and drove for a while. what should i do? get it re-tuned? i dont think hes the type to rip-off, been going to him for awhile and has never let me down before, but i can go to him anytime and get any problems fixed for free. let me know what do to please

i was thinking the same thing. some places just load up a general "street tune" which doesn't do sh*t for your car. go back and ask him if for an a/f reading/dyno shhet of that dyno run. that should be able to help us see if he really did anything.

check this site out, it has a bunch of different v6 stangs with all kinds of set ups with their dynosheets.

Re: auto dyno sheet?

well for one thing its better if you run a higher octane like 91 or 93 if your're in florida, cuz detonation is little to none. if you run 87 or 89 detonation occurs way too much and you definitely don't want that. so it does matter to a degree.

Re: auto dyno sheet?

93 is fine to run if your tune is for 91, just dont go lower than 91. I have only 93 here for example.

Someone that tells you you can run any gas and it wont matter... not sure what to think about that....

In other words, he tuned it for 87 and pretty much just changed your shift points and gear ratio in your tune.

Any tuner that says it doesn't matter what gas you run when it is tuned for a higher octane, 91 in your case, is not someone in the know....or, is just someone trying to make you think he did something he didn't.
