Re: battery light

If nothing feels wrong and it starts up fine and evrything just take off the negative terminal and wait two or so minutes then put it back on and see if it still shows up

Re: battery light

Yah I'd have to go with Zebs and say alternator...possibly the alternator belt, or the alternator itself. The system could be having trouble recharging when accelerating.

Re: battery light

combination of alternator and sloppy belt, careful not to over-rev your alternator otherwise you'll be shelling out 180 bucks on a new one. trust me from experience. alternators don't live @ 6200 for long. lol

Not true, I shifted at ~6500 RPMs in the '92 (to land in its powerband) for about 3 years worth of driving

Alternators, however, CAN have charging issues when spinning fast - I've seen this before (SHO Tauri loved to do this) And it's less likely the belt than the alternator itself - The belt would spin more on initial WOT, not extended..

Funny thing is, voltage light might come on, but the alternator would last for a while longer - My vote is alternator..

Worst case scenario, buy an alternator, throw it on (its an EASY install) take it for a test drive, see if the light still comes on, if not.. Great! Keep what you bought, if it does, return the alternator, and return to ME for help!

Re: battery light

you sure its not your brake light, not battery? when you accel if your brake fluid is a bit low it will trigger it to come on with the fluid being forced backward uncovering the sensor~

well what i mean is you can wear out the brushes prematurely. which is what happened in my case. simple fix, had an extra alternator from one of my 5.0 shortblocks and bam fixed! lol i guess u just got lucky!

Re: battery light

i had the same troubles a few weeks ago. i just got a system put in, and the amp messed up everything. the light is your charging light, take your alternator off and take it to autozone, you can get their cheapest alternator for around 220. and if it goes bad then you can take it back and exchange it for free.
