I think i need a new clutch

hey guys i think i need a new clucth. About 90% of the time when i step on the clutch pedal i notice really loud squeel. I also noticed that the feel of the pedal has gotten super stiff. A freind of mine said it was either my throw out bearing or pressure plate maybe both. Still need to take it in and get her checked.

if it is the clutch; is there any difference between a 99-04 3.8L or 3.9L clutch? I dont think there is. Most of the stuff i have said it was for a 3.8L. I just want to double check before i order a kit. all isee are the kits for a 3.8L.

as always thanks

Re: I think i need a new clutch

no difference in 3.9 i think they should stop saying "will fit 3.8" and start just saying whatever year range then just put v6

Re: I think i need a new clutch

if you go into it replace it all as its cheaper to do it then dont just do one or two parts. I would just go back with the OEM setup.

dont forget the pivot ball stud, throwout bearing, and inspect the clutch fork as well as the sleeve the throwout slides on for scratches, replace as needed.

Check the input shaft for correct tolerance (wiggle room) etc etc

Well weither it was one of the problems i listed above the car is dead. luckly it died in front of my parents house so it is safe. as of now my mustang is down for the count. the clutch pedal is stuck to the floor and i can not get it into any gear when started. If i out into gear and try to start the car it just jerks forwards. god to today has been a bad day

Then it sounds like a clutch issue....

Re: I think i need a new clutch

Ok so I was looking to get one of those adjustable cable kits from american muscle. But not sure if it would work for my V6. Any reason why they would only be labled for a GT??
