Question MAF gone bad

i recently got my car smogged and it failed, they said that it had something to do with my MAF and two other parts.. so i thought ****.. ima have to replace that **** and its going to cost me! i was thinking of getting a 80mm or a lighting MAF, and my question is will it pass with a lightning MAF and is it a simple plug and play type action or would i have to update various parts before i can run an 80mm MAF? help please thanks

Re: MAF gone bad

Do you have the details on why you failed and what they said?
Also some details on your car would be helpful.

Re: MAF gone bad

dont upgrade the maf, its useless unless you have a good bit of power. Just grab one for cheap somewhere. Make sure that is the problem, it may just need cleaning (very easy to do with a tamper proof torx bit)

Re: MAF gone bad

I'd figure out what those other two parts are first. They should have given you a print off of what passed and failed. Scan it in so we can take a look at it. I have a 99 maf I might be able to sell you soon but I don't know if we both have the same pin connectors.

what parts do you have to replace? The more I learn the more I realize how I've been screwed over by shops and smog people... You may be able to get whatever parts you need for less.
