Would you trade a 2008 v6 for a 2002 GT?

I need some opinions here, I'm thinking of selling my 2008 4.0 (5 speed manual) and buying either a 2000-2004 GT or a 96-98 Cobra, the thing is, I wont really gain that much performance since I already run low 14s with the 4.0... and in terms of money I think I'll either break even or come out ahead according to Kelly Bluebook, I'm seeking advice, is this a good idea? I'm really only gaining the v8 noise with this, and I'm sacrificing the retro style and the (very few) extra MPG that the v6 benefits from. To help with the feedback, I have provided a recent video of my car so you can see how it looks and sounds, it might be worth it to just keep but I duno... Love that v8 noise.

HELP!

I personally would not want a 99-04 gt, only 260hp expensive to mod ... I would keep mine instead if it was me. The 96-98 cobras are nicer but once again they are older and may have issues that your 08 will not. If you want a V8 just save up and get the one you want so you dont settle for what you can get "here and now"

Re: Would you trade a 2008 v6 for a 2002 GT?

first off nice car. i have a 96 v6 but i also have a v8 mentality.and about the fuel economy its not like the v6 mustang gets great gas mileage. imo if anyone who drives a mustang was worried about fuel economy they would've bought a Honda or something.you just have to think about what you want power or a couple more mpg and the styles which i prefer the new edge style. you do have a nice mustang though just think about what you would like more. or you could go test drive a couple gt's and cobras it might help with your decision. if you decide to do it shop around, make sure you get what you want or you'll regret it, trust me ive been there

Thanks for the info guys, I think I'll stay with the 4.0, it's been good to me, no reason to go backwards. Think I'll buy a used 2012 5.0 in 2013 lol

Good decision! I was thinking about doing the same a couple of weeks ago, but talked myself out of it. I'm now leaning towards buying an 09 GT in a year, or two.

Yeah I just found this on youtube:

I'm keeping the car, the sound alone isn't worth it, I'll wait for this car to die of old age before I go the GT route and somewhere in the not so distant future that Vortech is going in it

Re: Would you trade a 2008 v6 for a 2002 GT?

Your 2008 V6 is nice, I would keep it if I were you. I prefer the 99-04 body style but the 99-04 V6 or GT doesn't have the kind of horsepower it should have. I think Ford did a great job on the body, but got lazy with the powerplants.

lol, that's what I was thinking. The 99-04 engine changes were huge improvements over the 94-98 engines.

145-150 hp for the v6...you'd get beat by a pontiac sunfire

225 for the 4.6L GT's...yah, not good considering the specs on the f-bodies.

The 215 hp 5.0's were dogs also in stock form, but they were easier and more fun to build up...so I don't knock on them as much, lol.

I started saving in about 03 and saved until 06 (early 06) I ended up having 8k to pay down on my 03 and then I sold my 01 v6 and got a couple grand out of it. I lived at home whlie in college and worked a good bit to save up money, works quite well. I wasnt gonna buy a car until I graduated college and got a job and thats how it ended up happening. I worked after college about 6 months until I found my first real job and moved to Birmingham.
