improving gas milage

i am currently trying to improve gas milage and would like to know what kind of #s other people are getting? im getting 24.6 miles to the gallon in city with duals, and a k&n filter. fixing to buy a throttle body spacer from ebay. with this it says it should increase 1 to 3 miles, but that sounds to good to be true, maybe 1 but i dontknow about 3 miles. what do yall think about buying the throttle body for 75 with shipping? Also woundering if spark plugs and wires increase anything....
thanks

Re: improving gas milage

I get @23.5 with the 4.10's, CAI, Dual exhaust, UDP's and BBK 65mmT/B. The spacer won't do crap for you with your mods.

Re: improving gas milage

Ive never seen the spacer give an increase, but I also have not either... I know it has NO power increase AT ALL but you can give it a try if youve already ordered it, I personally would send it back.

get a UDP (25% asp brand) I picked up 1mpg with mine at least maybe more)

My old v6 with all the boltons and gears out back managed 23mpg~

Re: improving gas milage

Something that may be worth looking into if you're really that into gas mileage... get a chip or tune for 87 octane mpg. It will make the car as efficient as possible.

Re: improving gas milage

I have all the bolt ons and I average 20 MPG with mostly freeway miles and a somewhat agressive foot.

Re: improving gas milage

Oh man, me and my V6 have some issues. Im lucky to get 19-20. I put a lot of miles on my car most are actually all interstate. They say 5spd help with the gas mileage but i surely am not seeing the help. Id say i have a lead foot, and it needs a tune up really bad. Honestly i could drive nicely even after a tune up and i dont thing its going to change much. So id say your 24 is excellent!

Re: improving gas milage

well not much differance in performance, but i can hear the tornado effect the spacer creates as air passes through, somewhat like a whistling sound... it sounds pretty sweet, it is loud at around 4 rpms, but thats about it, im gonna head and keep it, since i still have more plans for he mustang... also another think i noticed was that while having the pedal to the floor i saw my gas gauge go down faster than im expected to see it... any ideas why?

Re: improving gas milage

u can improve gas milage by getting rid of excess weight.. replace hood to a lightweight (carbon fiber), take out jack and spare tire.. you can acctually put more air in the tires.. but you will sacrifice your ride quality and tread wear as well..

it might be because ur at a incline, the needle tends to play with our minds sometimes when we're lets say floored at a hill.. but when you go to a level street it goes back to its original place. thats my experience..

Re: improving gas milage

you can do all kinds of crazy stuff but just stick to the bolt ons and a tune along with good upkeep of the car (such as total fluid flushes every year and a good alignment rotation and balance of the tires as needed along with keeping the air pressure CORRECT)
