Lightbulb Governor bypass

im hoping that sonicpony or spectorV will chime in on this. but does anyone know how or what would be required to bypass the governor on a 98 using the MAF? is this even possible? ik that my friend did this on her F-150.

Re: Governor bypass

Using the MAF? I highly doubt it. The limiter is based on speed which has zero to do with the MAF. The only way I know to bypass it is with a tuner where you can set your limit to 255 which is a number you'll never reach.

Re: Governor bypass

In 98 the speed limiter is by RPM limit not speed limit. In order to bypass it you would require a tune on your vehicle so the computer does not stop the rpms at 4500rpms in final gear (I think its 4500... well when ever it is). Thats 115mph~ or there about which is plenty honestly. In 99 they went (the v6's at least) to a speed limited 115mph.

If you were to swap in gears then the rpms are higher and 4500rpms is like 85mph vs 115mpg before ... now that sucks no doubt.

Re: Governor bypass

There may be some odd way that MAF counts determine it (no idea how as every gear would have the same counts...) but however not on the mustang.

Re: Governor bypass

It should be some parameter in there to set the speed limit~ Ive never messed with a Diablo but I would hope its possible.

Re: Governor bypass

Yea it sucks, when I had my 3.73's installed my speedo gear wasn't installed yet so I had to drive it with the 2.73 gear inside the trans. My car would shut off at 85mph with the speedo reading 110. The speed limiter on a 98 v6 is 110. If I remember correctly as soon as the needle hits 110 the car starts cutting out. It's in the speedo electronics, I've hit 110 with the 2.73's & 3.73's in overdrive with the same results.

you have to think how much he has invested in his car and how much you have invested in yours now just think how fast your car would be with all of that extra money you could use to make your car a lot faster

Re: Governor bypass

there are far to many uncontrollable parameters that come into play when doing things like going 100mph on a public road~ to me it just seems 100% stupid.
