Well, the 95 blown HG looks pretty good once...

... we got the heads stripped off, at least the pass. side where it blew.
We concentrated on that once we got it and left the driver's for today.

The cyl. walls look perfect, piston tops too, rings are seemingly good, they
pushed the coolant out very efficiently, I know water is thicker than A/F
and exhaust, but it's an indication so far... I have an engine expert that
can come look at it but IMO it looks so good I don't think we need to bother
anyone else. Oh, Dad's right close and he's seen/done more teardowns and
rebuilds than me so we'll have him take a peek. The only thing might be old
rings but I guess we can do a compression test before we get totally committed
to using the original '95 shortblock. Oil looks good, no coolant, it even looks
OK for needing changed, and the whole engine has come apart really well except
for the header studs and 1 bolt on timing cover (for WP), it snapped but I can
fix that easily. Then tap it out for the next size STANDARD inch size!

I can get CR close to 10:1 but 9.6 is pretty easy.

Yeb, I think so Herb. Got the other head off and it looks equally good.
In fact, for 140K it looks sweet. Since it is a short term fix, (awaiting
a huge stroker) Here is the new combo, and it is hot for a stock shortblock:

BV Heads, Custom upper (at some point) and race lower, BIG cam, (undecided)
I've calculated we can get 9.9:1 CR without angle milling, so something
between 9.5:1 and higher... It has a good set of duals but still has cats.
I need to do soemthing about that, make it true 2.25" throughout, and
compare the future ASC exhaust to that.

300 BHP with proper exhaust is very doable. I'm setting the bar HIGH,
so I expect we need to hit 260 RWHP at least to say we got 300 BHP.
I also need to find a dyno tune shop in Indy or somewhere close.
