... we got the heads stripped off, at least the pass. side where it blew.
We concentrated on that once we got it and left the driver's for today.
The cyl. walls look perfect, piston tops too, rings are seemingly good, they
pushed the coolant out very efficiently, I know water is thicker than A/F
and exhaust, but it's an indication so far... I have an engine expert that
can come look at it but IMO it looks so good I don't think we need to bother
anyone else. Oh, Dad's right close and he's seen/done more teardowns and
rebuilds than me so we'll have him take a peek. The only thing might be old
rings but I guess we can do a compression test before we get totally committed
to using the original '95 shortblock. Oil looks good, no coolant, it even looks
OK for needing changed, and the whole engine has come apart really well except
for the header studs and 1 bolt on timing cover (for WP), it snapped but I can
fix that easily. Then tap it out for the next size STANDARD inch size!
I can get CR close to 10:1 but 9.6 is pretty easy.
