GT500 wheels

Hey guys I'm trying to get me a set of 07 Shelby GT500 wheels. 18's would be sick. However I can't seem to find any that will fit the 99-04 Mustang. Any help would be awesome.

Thanks
~Dan

Re: GT500 wheels

The backspacing looks like around 7.2" (183.4mm) and the offset is +50mm.

Re: GT500 wheels

According to americanmuscle.com they are 18x9.5 with an offset of +50mm and a back spacing of 7.22"

that means 9.5 - 7.22 = 2.28

2.28 is the amount of rim that stick outwards from the rotor mounting surface.

For 99-04 mustangs this needs to be around 3.00 (2.89-3.10) inches~ so if my math is correct you will need a .75 inch spacer~ (example 03 cobra rim 17x9 6.11 backspacing = 2.9 front spaced)

That will put you around 3.0-3.1 inches front spaced which is where you need to be, having 9.5 wide you may have rubbing issues as most recommend no wider than 9 in the front but they will work~ just FYI your front sway bar will be rubbed on at full lock of the steering wheel.

For the rear you can go more to stick the tire out for a more aggressive look if you wish. I would not to past 3.75 inches. That means it would require a rather large spacer... around 1.5 inches. The safe limit to ensure no fender lip hitting is 3.5 inches so in that case you can do 1.25 inch spacer in the rear...

Not sure if that size of a spacer is safe~ i have no info on them.

for tires on a 9.5 hmmmm I would probably aim for a 285 wide tire.

Re: GT500 wheels

I would buy the rims first. If they are for the 99-04 mustangs, I would think the spacing would be set already to not require spacers.

If you need a spacer, then you can order them after test fitting the rims. And if you need that big of spacers, you're going to need new, longer wheel studs.

Re: GT500 wheels

Edit:

Never mind, I see you said that the site didn't have the version you wanted.

Therefore, I would say you can't run them on your car as a 1+" space is not a good idea.

Re: GT500 wheels

They make one inch spacers that bolt to the factory studs and have it's own studs and they will work fine.

Re: GT500 wheels

I know there are hubcentric spacers, but that is still a lot of extension for your Axel. That's a lot of added leverage being placed on your bearings and such.

I guess it's one of those choices of looks vs. **** breaking/wearing out.

Re: GT500 wheels

.75 wheel spacer seems to be what you would need AT LEAST to fit them right front and back, I just said 1.25 for the rear to make it look more aggressive, but as said above... thats a lot of spacer.
