Whining noise?

Ive been hearing this whining noise in my 2006 mustang and I don't known what it is? The noise is only when I accelerate from a dead stop or from low speeds. Im thinking that it is either the transmission or the alternator? What you guys think. The mustang is an auto.

There is absolutely no telling without more description of the noise, location, noise level, etc.

Does it stop after the tranny has shifted up a gear?

Re: Whining noise?

It seems like the noise comes in around the 1500RPM at around 10MPH and stops when it shifts witch would be the trans but it doesn't always make the sound either. I know you can hear the noise from the cabin but I don't know from out side.

Re: Whining noise?

Is it more like a whistle. I noticed that same noise when I went from my 99 Cobra to a 05 GT and thought it was kinda weird, then I heard the same noise a month later when I picked up my 07 GT. I still hear but its nothing super loud or nothing to make me worry. Did you just start to notice it?

I get the whistle on my 06 V6 as well. I don't even pay attention to it anymore. What kind of whine?( like a squeal? or belt sound?) Miles on car when the issue started?

Re: Whining noise?

on my old silver 200 v6 (RIP) i used to get this whine around 10mph or lower and it would go away when i accelerated. I was really baffeled by this so my dad and i jacked it up and checked the the driveshaft and it was loose, so we tightened the bolts back and the whining stopped.
