opinions on brakes...

13 inch rear brake upgrade

this kit is advertised as "13 inch cobra brake REAR upgrade" and "superior to the 11.65 inch cobra brake"

is this a legit upgrade? or is in not possible or even dangerous to use 13 inch brakes on both front and rear?

opinions?

Re: opinions on brakes...

To run a 13 inch rotor on the back of your car you're gonna need like 14 or 15 inch rotors on the front. Unbalanced braking will lead to your untimely demise.

Re: opinions on brakes...

alright. but i've only got 17x9 rims, and no desire to go bigger just for bigger brakes

Re: opinions on brakes...

He's right, you want your front brakes to have more stopping power than your rear. I'd just do the standard Cobra stuff.

Re: opinions on brakes...

even if it uses 13 inch rotors in the back you have one less piston on the rear caliper, due to pressure bias you will have less fluid pressure at the rear brakes.

Re: opinions on brakes...

yea the rear will stop better but they wont outpower the front. I wouldnt upgrade the rear brakes though, they dont look any bigger than the OEM ones (no one will notice) but if you can get the brackets from ford for cheap and some good rotors it wont cost a lot.

My advice is to get oem cobra/mach1/bullitt brakes for the front and stainless steel lines. Then get a set of GOOD bear rotors (not cheap-o rotors that will warp) you can get BADASS decela bear rotors for 400 (for the front) they are two peice and are the badness or you can spend 140~ or so and get good ones.

I would NOT get slotted and drilled unless they are a GREAT brand and wont warp (have warranty or something on it) slotted is as far as I would go other wise.
