Fixed my old car

Guy I sold my sixer to came by so i could show him how to get the stereo out. I popped the hood to check the power wire I ran to the battery and notice the intake tube was kinda hanging out of the mass air flow.I looked closer and the air filter had fallen off and was laying on the plastic of the wheel well. He had said the car ran like **** spent over a thousand dollars on stuff and it wouldn't even idle.Luckily I still had the stock intake I put it back on and it fixed everything. What I think happened was either the sleeves had worn out or that screw that holds it in place wasn't really on right and when he hit a bump the pipe would hit the metal part of the fender and it had actually cut a slice into the pipe like someone took some tin snips and just had some fun. And somehow when we fired it up the stereo started working again lol.

If he doesn't realize that his intake tube is loose and the filter has fallen off, you'd better get it back from him soon before he blows it up.

You should have charged him for parts and labor, lol.

If he blows the motor thats less money I have to pay. (the 3.8 won't be in it once i have it) If I hadn't played football with him for 8 years I might have charged him but it didn't seem right.

Re: Fixed my old car

Depending on the overall condition, I'd say no more than $2000. You could probably get it for less since the mileage is higher, and you know the guy KBB says $2380 for an 01 auto coupe w/ 150k as of today, so expect that to depreciate in 2 years.

Not true. Once it hits a certain amount the price will roughly stay the same. Otherwise if it kept dropping eventually we'd have to pay people to take the cars lol. BTW ignore KKB they over value cars. Edmunds.com or nada.com are better

We have thanks!

We will have rep points again when we switch to IP.Board.

Since their reputation system doesn't blow, like vBulletin's does.

Well I think it depends on the condition of the car. Say he puts another 50K miles on the car, and it gains a few more dings and dents, it certainly shouldn't be worth the same or similar price. The price should definitely be negotiable. I think that's the point where people let the car go for a song.

I think KBB under values some cars...besides, KBB, NADA, they are all just there to give you an idea. People get way more than what their car's are worth, and some get less than they should have.
