would a 2001 3.8 mustang front and rear brakes fit on a 1997 3.8 mustang?

Re: brake switch out

they will bolt up BUT the front 99 calipers fitting on a 97 mustang may cause a SLIGHT issue when you try to fit the caliper bolt in, this may or may not happen. The fix is to simply grind the knuckle down a bit so the caliper can slide on down a bit, its only like 2/10ths of an inch off~ really easy fix.

Re: brake switch out

The 99+ Brake calipers are 2 piston compared to your stock ones which are 1 piston Much better,

Re: brake switch out

i have another questions, since the calipers are taken off already, how can i push the pistons down? and will i run into any minor problems installing them? do they just bolt on and bingo thats it?

Re: brake switch out

If I recall WhiteStang99 did it by hand... and you should not run into any other problems other than what SpectorV mentioned

Re: brake switch out

If you can't get it by hand, just get a cheap c clamp from any hardware store. Always handy to keep around. by god

Yup, i did this myself and it makes a world of a difference. You will definately need to sand down the edges and it's more like .070" from each end. They will slide in just fine then.
