V6 Steering

I bought a 2000 V6 for my daughter that has Cobra rims and tires installed on it and the steering is a fight. The car tries to "track" down the road trying to follow every valley an uneven surface we drive across. Is the stock rack and pinion capable of handling these tires?

Re: V6 Steering

It is bad and it is tiring to drive, not enjoyable at all, also very tough on a beginner driver.

Re: V6 Steering

Mustang steering isn't anything like newer cars now like cadillac lexus and what not I don't think it would be the wheels that are put on causing it but you might need an alignment job.

Re: V6 Steering

I had the basic same setup on my 01 v6 with no issues. Alignment and tires worn bad etc can cause "tracking". I would check the alignment first to see how bad off it is. Some areas have worse roads that cause these issues~

Re: V6 Steering

Yah sounds like an alignment problem. Check your tires, see if they are wearing unevenly or cupping...that will contribute to tracking as well.

Re: V6 Steering

Wider tires will cause that to happen, but It shouldn't wear you out to drive it. If it's really that bad I'd say you either have worn front end parts, or badly set toe.
