K&N Air Intake System

Do they have K&N intake systems for v6 stangs? or are there better systems to try out?

Looking to save gas milage/increase HP.

Exhaust do the same?

Re: K&N Air Intake System

I thought they came with K&N intake systems. Or do you mean a "cold air" intake? If thats what you mean, yeah they do. I think they are more expensive than other aftermarket ones out there though. Air intake and exhaust may help a little or you may not even notice a difference. Theoretically it is supposed to help.

Re: K&N Air Intake System

HP gains will be like 2-3 I believe from CAI. You really aren't going to notice a major change....

Just buy a K&N filter and remove the silencer snorkel (assuming V6s are like GTs and Cobras) and save the extra from the kit for something else. You will get about the same performance gains.

Re: K&N Air Intake System

No clue...never shopped for them...I bought them online both times. I believe they are available at some of the shops like O'Reilys and such...

Filter should prolly run you about $50ish.

However. If you want to dress up the engine bay with something....get a CAI like Kyle. Don't know which he has...believe it might be a MAC...but it comes with the polished pipes and such. Won't do much more for power....but it will dress things up a little.

The stickers are only there for the HP gains.

And, gas savings will be minimal as well. You will get a few more miles to the tank....

Best thing to do for your mileage will be a tune.

Re: K&N Air Intake System

I have a high flow K&N filter, and an air intake off my 2001 v-6 that's already had the silencer snorkel cut.... if you're interested...

you COULD pull it out, but I wanted mine to pull the colder air from the fenderwell, so I cut it right where the fenderwell starts... increased the diameter of the tube a lot, and it still pulls colder air... I didn't have to cut it... but I did ... I love sharp tools, I probably shouldn't be allowed to use them.

I like Beaner's idea better. cut the silencer, don't remove it.

yes, I like my idea better too... I think I should get one of those green cubes for being "helpful"... ... yeah, just seems to me if you're only talking about getting 2-3 horsepower, you might not want to suck in warmer engine air... would sort of kill that 2-3 hp

I have the K&N FIPK II system. I absolutely love the looks, that's about all a new intake will give you...look.

Re: K&N Air Intake System

I picked up a CAI on ebay for 107 bucks. It was my first mod, got the ball rolling. Don't spend an assload on it, it really doesn't do much besides whistle and look pretty...
