Porting upper and lower intake

Just a question, what's the "upper and lower" refering to and how much HP is freed up with this? Also, what kind of price tag would a shop put on that? Btw, this is for a 2008 4.0

Re: Porting upper and lower intake

So in summation... it's not worth it... judging by the vast responses...

So the upper is the air intake? Lower being some sort of intake within the block?

I'm sure you can tell the intakes in this picture, even though it's for a 3.8.

Re: Porting upper and lower intake

I had my 01 v6's upper and lower intake ported but never got to install them. IF the port work is done good you can expect 15rwhp. The investment is probably 200 for intakes and then 200-300 for port work.. then say 300 for install...

Re: Porting upper and lower intake

Cool, I wanna do the split port swap, I'm sure the gains will be quite noticable over my single port. Anyone know where I can get a set of 99+ intakes and heads? Perferably ported and polished already.

Re: Porting upper and lower intake

the only place I know of to get them is supersix motorsports not sure of any other place that sells v6 parts like that~ you have other issues though when doing it. You have to have the heads as well to go to dual port and the fuel system and a few other this and thats (possibly ecu)

Don't need the EEC, but I know SSM sells the "conversion" kits for $350 includes the fuel rail and all the other crap.
