Is it worth getting a new throttle body when gettin A CAI intake or any other intake for that matter. If so, or if not what kind of experience have you guys had with different throttle bodies and what would u reccomend/ or not reccomend?

Re: Throttle Bodies

Unless you're running some engine up grades (ported heads, intake, cam, etc) a throttle body is useless. Unless you just want to spend 275$.

Re: Throttle Bodies

For us 3.8/3.9 guys, it's really not worth getting a new throttle body until we start pushing some serious air into the intake. It's one of those mods that you hear mixed reviews about whent talking about power gains. Some say you don't really gain anything, others say they can feel the increased power.

I'm not sure on the 4.0's. They are more sensitive to changes like that and you might see some gains from one. I know most decent, worthwhile CAI's require a tune, so maybe you'd want to do the same with a new t/b.

Re: Throttle Bodies

I would first recomend not getting one unless you have major mods. Second if you do get one get a low dollar one like summit brand or something.

Re: Throttle Bodies

Why would he get a low dollar one if he's going to get one? Thats kind of pointless. If you're deadset on getting one, might as well get one of the best.

Re: Throttle Bodies

Its pretty much just about size when it comes to throttle bodies. I don't think there are any bad ones thats why he should go with a cheaper one on a n/a car.

Definately not a good mod to do. the only engine worth doing the TB early would be the old 3.8's with the 50mm TB's but even that's a toss up.

Re: Throttle Bodies

I have to disagree with you guys on this. I have the BBK 65mm TB. I dont remember how much I paid for it maybw $250. Maybe I only gain 2-3hp from it. But I am glade I got it.
