2000 mustang 3.8 shaking

this unit shakes to deatgh in neutral and only slightly diminished in gear. have checked all external sources, even replaced damper asm, but no avail. have been told the balance shaft was not used in these in 2000. my question is are they right or idiots.

I cant remember which way it is but in mid 01 they swapped to an the harmonic balancer to or from an internal balance (cant remember but I think 01 had an external balance, you can tell by the notch in the harmonic balancer vs a previous year where its all round, no notches)

It could be a missfire as well either a plug or the coil pack perhaps

The External balancer was from 99-00, some late model 00 Stangs switch to the internal balancer. Here's a pic of an after marker underdrive pully. a 99-00 should have noticable notch in it.

You might check for a loose vacuum line. That can cause a rough idle and shake.

Also, the hole that magically appears in the passenger side manifold makes it do that as well, at least it made mine do that before i took them off.

yea the v6's are known to have cracked headers due to AC condensation so check for an exhaust leak.

This may seem simple and retarded but......have you checked all your spark plug wires and coil pack? Make sure and verify that all your spark plug wires going to the correct plug and are all your spark plug wires plugged into the correct firing order on the coil pack?

Simple and padantic, but its an issue I ran into when I swapped my coil pack and wires.

true - spark plugs and wires will make it shake if they arent plugged correctly or if they go bad...
