Well goodbye throwout bearing...

Hello once again everyone, haha Well less then 30 mins ago I ran out to the store - 2 miles away - On the way there I noticed it was getting VERY difficult to shift.... pressing the clutch pedal down is now a ***** ( excuse this but just a bit upset ) I get my 00 mustang home without a problem but as a i pull into my driveway the throwout bearing starts to squeel... GAH! I knew it was going out but i was hoping it wouldn't crap out on me untill thursday when I order a new clutch and flywheel....

This is what I'm going to order - please let me know if you have it - how it is - should I go with something else? etc...

SPEC Stage 2 Clutch (94-04 Mustang V6) at AmericanMuscle.com - Free Shipping!

SPEC Billet Steel Flywheel (94-04 Mustang V6) at AmericanMuscle.com - Free Shipping!

anything else I should buy while I'm doing all this?

haha thank god I've got a buddy to put the new clutch and flywheel in for 150

I'm not sure why you'd have to replace those parts unless yours were bad. You won't know that tho until you get the trans out. My TOB has gone out 2 times in the last 7 years, never had to replace more than the bearing.

Re: Well goodbye throwout bearing...

lol only reason my car is getting a new clutch, it's got the factory clutch with 190k miles on it.... I bought it from a guy who use to have to drive alot of highway miles to the airport ( he was a pilot at O' hare in Chicago ) When I got the car. 178k miles... It's at 190k now... mostly still highway miles. Even if the clutch is still good.... It's going to be replaced just because of the mileage... lol

Re: Well goodbye throwout bearing...

put back in a factory clutch if its an 99-04, those clutches are quite good. If its an older upgrade. This is unless you plan to have more than 300rwhp then yea upgrade. DO NOT USE the spec throwout bearing, use an OEM ford and shove it full of lube.

Also replace the pilot bearing, inspect the pivot ball stud, the bearing sleeve retainer and how much play the input shaft has to ensure its all in specification.

Re: Well goodbye throwout bearing...

Yes I do plan to add alot more horse power into my car... First I want to do the clutch/flywheel... short throw shifter and get dual exhaust... 8.8 rear end with 3.73s after all of that I'm going to swap out my 190k 3.8 motor for my totaled 03's 3.8 with only 60k miles on it... after thats in then all the motor work will start to happen

Are you referring to chatter when you get going or are you talking about vibration as you drive?
