2000 v6 mustang

Hey guys, I have a 2000 v6 mustang. I just want to know that if installing MAC headers, H-pipe (no cats) and dual exhaust will give me more power? and what can I do to make my car faster but not spending to much money on it? how about changing my fly wheel?

Re: 2000 v6 mustang

headers and an h pipe are pretty much worthless, it makes it very loud and thats not what you really want on a stock motor v6. I would do a cat back and be done with the exhaust for now.

CAI, exhaust, under drive pulley, dyno tune with a chip, and rear gears/tlok seem to be the mods most people start with.

I wouldnt worry with the flywheel either until you have soem serious power.

whats CAI and under drive pulley? the guy from the speedshop near my place told me about the diablo programmer but he doesn't know how much HP I'll gain after doing it.

Re: 2000 v6 mustang

check our vendors... VMPTuning have their tuners for sale. SCT 2 tuner seems to be sexy, as 04stang's stang, rox mine... which is bone stock except for K&N Airfilter and 17x9 rims.

Re: 2000 v6 mustang

the ONLY way you should EVER get a chip/programmer/tunner is from a very good car tuner, NOT just off the shelf. We have some good tuners on the site I would talk to them and see what will work best for you.

LT's arent worthless, they dyno at about 7rwhp on a stock V6 with deleted cats. And they make it sound much better.

headers are worthless on a v6 until youre at 400 hp or more. Dont waste your money, and neato, stfu.

Re: 2000 v6 mustang

This has been proven time and again. Headers are pretty much worthless on v6's and don't even do that much on GT's. Stock manifolds are fine for a pretty decent powerlevel. With serious engine work or a poweradder is the only time I would put money into headers, which I did.

Stock hearders are good to about 300 rwhp Why waste the money and time to install LT's for 7rwhp2:

I'll guarantee 5-6 of that hp came from deleted cats.

Re: 2000 v6 mustang

plus, wouldn't doing the LT headers, with no cats, on a stock v-6 cost you a decent amount of torque? Without torque... life sucks.

Aristotle was famous for knowing everything. He taught that the brain exists merely to cool the blood and is not involved in the process of thinking. This is true only of certain persons --i.e. neatofrito...

First of all numb nuts, stock 3.8 headers can only support about 300 crank hp, and I didnt say it was a "good" mod, I was just saying its not completly useless. The only reason I even put them on my V6 is because of nitrous. And yes, about 3rwhp of the 6-7 is from the deleted cats, the LT's alone are only good for about 3-4rwhp.

I put nitrous on my V6 because on spray I'm making around 330 hp, which would **** up my exhaust flow with stock headers.

Re: 2000 v6 mustang

Your car doesnt have stock headers anyway... theyre exhaust manifolds. 94-98 stangs came with shorty headers.

That was about 20% directed at you and 80% directed toward another member lol. Name calling is not an acceptable way of being accepted on mustang evolution, just a word to the wise....
