MUFFLERS

I have a pypes exhaust system on my v-6 with street pro mufflers. I want to make an up-grade to a more aggressive sounding muffler. Does anyone have either of the following and if so, are you pleased with the sound/performance
pypes violator series
flowmaster 44 series

Re: MUFFLERS

I have the Pypes street pros as well. I'm pretty satisfied with the sound...they don't get really high pitched and buzzy above 2500 rpms which is a common issue with many aftermarket mufflers on the v6's. Plus they have a great idle...deep and crisp, I've had tons of people make compliments on the sound and thought it was a v8.

Do you have the x-pipe system? That really adds to the raspiness and drone on the v6.

As far as the other mufflers you suggested:

Pypes violators: they are the mufflers standard on the v8 systems from Pypes...they aren't too bad on the v6, definitely wouldn't recommend them with an x-pipe.

Flow 44's: These are going to sound good since they are chambered. They will be drony and buzzy in the higher rpms...no way around that. For the best sound, throw on a set of longtubes and an h-pipe like 19delta's.

Yah that's just inevitable with flowmasters...but some guys get over that fact because they want that sound.

Re: MUFFLERS

I have had dual 40's w/ 2.5 tips out the back on my old 00 mustang and now I have dual 40's w/ turn downs on my 01 mustang and by far I like the turn downs. Has a deep and loud tone while cruising and does not get ricey in higher rpms. Almost everyone thinks its a GT until I tell them its not and they are baffled
Plus its cheaper cause you dont have to buy tips and it doesnt look weird without the gt cutout holes for the tips.

a good clean look and good sound. cant get any better

That is a great suggestion. Turndowns will definitely get you the deepest tone without question. As SC_STEEDA said, you won't need to worry about getting a GT bumper either.

Till that exhaust leak comes and it sounds anywhere from a kazoo to a ricer. Its embarrasing I have to slide down in the seat so people wont notice me lol.
