In need of some help....

Ok..been having a strange problem with my car lately, and I'm almost positive it only happens on the 87 mpg tune I got from Justin. Sometimes it will pull strong all the way through the rpms, and other times, like today, it will miss/sputter/be slow as hell and throw the code P0190 which is P0190 Fuel Rail Pressure Sensor Circuit Malfunction. The next question is...how the hell do I keep this from happening. It happens randomly, no real explanation. The only thing I can find similar about the situations is it does this after the car has been running for an hour or so.

Re: In need of some help....

Haha...well no ****. Now if I only knew what that was, where it was, etc...
I'm gonna go ahead and order some wires, one of my friends rode with me earlier and said he had a car that did the same thing when his wires went bad. Also gonna get around to changing the fuel filter if I can ever get ahold of the tool..

Re: In need of some help....

my bud Lester has one, I'll see where he got it, you mean the tool that allows
you to remove the fuel lines and AC lines???

IMO if the problem is only when you use the 87 octane MPG tune, try the
87 performance tune and see if it does not do it. If it does not, could be
something in the fuel pump or a minor glitch in the program/computer...
For example (purely speculating here) the fuel pressure is turned down
during MPG mode, and in certain cases, the pressure drops below what
the computer expects to see, could be the sensor's low end is not what
it should be or the pressure is actually too low, or the fuel pump does not
like to run at those low settings... remember, the returnless system cuts
pump voltage to regulate flow/pressure and your pump might not like that!

I'm not saying the tune is bad by any means, but maybe the factory
components are not quite up to par and cannot handle what is asked of them.
We see it all the time where they cannot handle our highest expectations,
(MORE POWER!!!) but in this case they maybe cannot handle the
lower demand settings the tune requires for more mileage

Re: In need of some help....

I replaced the sensor yesterday, a lovely 76 dollars from fomoco. Drove around last night and let the car get good and warm, then played around a little and it didn't miss. I'm about to do a nice little road trip and I'll try it out after getting there to see if it still does it, then I'll take your advice and run the 87 perf tune and see if that makes any difference.

Re: In need of some help....

Well it still throws the code on the 87 mpg tune up top (over 3000 rpms). I put it on the 87 performance tune and it no longer misses and throws codes, just pulls. So..note to self, don't floor it on the 87 mpg tune.
