Rear Sway Bar

I just bought off a rear sway bar from a GT owner who upgraded his. I bought it for $5 bucks. I'm sure its a good deal but it doesn't have any bushings nor screws. Anyone have any idea where I can get an installation kit and instruction to install it myself? Also, will I feel a difference in my cars performance? What can I expect?

Re: Rear Sway Bar

I bought the kit from ford for like 20 bucks I believe. It included the 4 bolts and the 4 nuts. You can probably pick it up from a local hardware store for cheaper...but I just decided to go to ford instead.

And I could tell an immediate difference in the way my car handled. No more wanting to step out making sharp turns. The rear end sticks much better.

Re: Rear Sway Bar

I'm pretty sure I CAN pick them up from a hardware store, but what are the dimensions for the bolts/nuts. I need the hardware specs. Does it include any bushings at all or does it connect metal on metal? Also, is my car predrilled for the sway bar?

I don't know the dimensions off the top of my head. But yes, it's metal to metal and yes your car is predrilled for all the mounting points.

Re: Rear Sway Bar

I finished installing it w/ the help of my brother and wow does it make a difference. I used 4 1.5" screws w/ 3/4" thread. It makes the rear end feel I like to say heavy but stiff is the word. You can definitely feel the difference when you come out of a turn into a straight away. I definitely would recommend this mod to everyone who's interested in performance.

Glad you like it man, I put off installing mine for a few months. Did my springs, shocks/struts, front sway bar, subframes, and c/c plates. Then decided to go ahead and put it on. I think it made the biggest difference.

Re: Rear Sway Bar

The Rear Sway Bar is one of the first mods one should do to a 1997 to 2004 and up V6

Re: Rear Sway Bar

Hey the guy that I got the sway bar from had a 2002 mustang GT. He was selling his cuz he upgraded. I took the rear w/o thinking twice since I knew my car didn't even have one, but now I ask myself if theres any difference between his front sway bar and my 2004 V-6? Should I go back for it? It's another $5.

Re: Rear Sway Bar

Not enough to really make a difference IMO. Unless you just want it.
