Re: cam setup

I dont have a cam "YET" but it depends alot on where you want to go with the car. Check out supersix and talk to tom.

supersix.com is the best site for our cars. if you are paying a mechanic, i would at least do a set of ported heads to make it worth your while. also it depends on if you plan to stay n/a, supercharger, or turbo down the road.

how big a shot are you looking to run? i wouldnt do much more than 75. are you finished with the bolt-ons? cause you wanna do all of those before you dig into the engine and do nitrous.

Re: cam setup

Yah definitely talk to someone who makes/sells custom cams for the v6's. You'll want to specify what you want the cam for as well as determine lift, duration, etc. They'll help you out with that.

As said above, if you're paying someone labor chargers, might as well slip a few other add ons in there as well.

Re: cam setup

I wouldn't shoot anything more than 50 on the stock internals of your engine.

Well, I dont know if there really is a safe shot, but 75 is pretty much it for our car. A 50 shot would be a lot safer but almost a waste of time. Ive seen several run a 100 shot for a good while, but in the end, its only a matter of time. It also depends on the tune a lot and how often you will actually be using it.

Well you can race your car stock and its only a matter of time. Hell you can not race your car and soon or later its gonna need a new engine.

Re: cam setup

Ive seen engines take major abuse (260K miles and never had an oil change just kept adding oil) and last forever and ive seen ones get babied and not last at all.
