Re: sc m90 swap

Well you would have to convert to a single port setup (head, intake)and you would only gain 20 HP and 90 Tq in the end. Better off geting a procharger or turbo setup or an M112(cobra)

Re: sc m90 swap

You need the entire engine pretty much, I wouldnt do it for the little hp/tq gains you end up with.

Many are doing the 2003/2004 Cobra M112 Eaton Supercharger swap onto their V6's and getting 260-300hp or so out of them @ 8-10psi~

The supercoupe motor is forged and such and the regular V6 mustang engine is not, and the supercharger has no cooling~ but its not a bad setup for the price~ www.mysteedperformance.com sells the kits or did sell them~

Mysteed does take forever to get back to you, though. I've contacted him 5 or 6 times about getting the s/c gasket and bolts and still nothing.

Re: sc m90 swap

If you could really do the labor and get ALL the parts for under 1500$ it might actually be worth the swap. Yes your going down to single port but with all the 10 second single ports, the only 9 second v6 mustang is also a single port.

You would make more power, have a wider power and torque curve, and with full exhaust, tune pulley swap you could have a solid low 13s / high 12s v6 mustang. Which would satisfy most people i'm sure.

Re: sc m90 swap

not much, you would probably go fro m150 to 200-220~ its a bad setup. I would go with another setup if you wanted to make good power for the investment.

As said above the mysteedperformance.com kit I think clears the stock hood now~

It does clear the stock hood now, which is a good thing. Another 500 bones you can save for something else.

Re: sc m90 swap

Would the m90 be bolt on? Cause I know you have to change a ton for the m112. And that's a lot of money.

Re: sc m90 swap

its not a bolt on, you need pretty much the entire engine to pull it off.

You have to change more for the m90 than you do the m112

If you've got split-port heads you do. If you've got single ports heads like yours you shouldn't have to.

Re: sc m90 swap

actualy nevermind you have a single port. but you still get close the the same HP gains with a split port and have more room for improvment.

Re: sc m90 swap

So it is just a bolt on then? But I'm not worrying about too much more improvement. I'm saving for a cobra. I just wanna have some more horsepower.

Re: sc m90 swap

While it is closer to a "bolt on" style supercharger because it's made for single port, it'll be easier if you can find an engine and pull all the necessary parts. salvaged supercharged tbirds and cougar xr7's are abundant.

Re: sc m90 swap

Basically the entire engine lol. It's easier to just have the entire setup available.
The engine is forged, so that's reason enough to just pull the engine and stick it in. Only problem is that most salvage supercharged 3.8's are high mileage engines...so know what you're looking at.

would it be bad to bolt on a m90 to a stock 3.8?

Probably not as long as you have a good tune and dont put too much boost on it. You'll probably have a shorter engine life as well.

Unless you get an amazing deal on a supercoupe engine you can just build your motor and make more power N/A that with a supercharger on a stock supercoupe engine.

You can mod the hell out of a cobra and not get anything back. You'll probably even get less then if you left it stock.

He might be able to match peak power, but thats it. He won't match the power under the curve or the torque. And we all know peak power isn't fun.

This is with any car, period. I can sink 15k into a v6 mustang, or a z06 corvette and won't get my money back.

Thats all you really need for an 03/04 cobra or any car that came factory boosted. But more times than less if you mod correctly and don't try to cut corners you end up with less headaches and a car that still only requires basic care.
