Production number questions

I've seen people posting questions of the rarity of their Mustangs so here's mine. My 97 Stang is basically a no options car I have fog lights AC and power mirrors that's it. In 97 out of all 3.8's and 4.6's only 2462 were purple. My question is how many 3.8's were purple? It's starting to need paint due to a few nicks and scratches. Would painting the car kill what little value it has or should I keep it original?

Re: Production number questions

You would have to get a build sheet to know. I don't think value will be lost however.

Re: Production number questions

Yea maybe I have to repaint mine too but it is because when I went out of town parked and while in the store someone keyed it from nose to tail. Why I ask WHY.

Re: Production number questions

Yea no kidding but it does make you ask why. With the stock paint being the GT tri coat it is 5 grand to redo. Sucks man.

Re: Production number questions

You really don't see too many of those purple sn95's around. I wouldn't think a repaint would hurt value too much...besides its your car, you've kept it this long, who cares get that s.o.b. repainted factory deep violet, it'd be sweet.

Re: Production number questions

Painting wont hurt the value, it will help (but not by a ton). The key is a GOOD OEM spec paint job... hard to come by and wont be cheap.
