If an engine came in that body style it will fit. 5.4 came in the 2000 Cobra R so it should fit.

It's a large project....so I'd treat it as a huge project. Something to do on weekends when you have the time, money and an extra driveable car. The thing to remember is when you upgrade to a larger platform such as a 5.4, you need to upgrade other components...brakes, rearend, suspension, frame stiffening (subframe connectors).
It gets expensive and as said can be a headache. Not trying to deter you but it's not just a simple drop in and go type of thing.

The reason you hear about people doing it is because its alot easier in the gt wiring harness is the same and only have to change a few things. Its definalty not something to take likely in a gt but is alot easier and cheaper.
One suggestion unless your attatched you could sell your car and get a 1996-1998 gt and the swap would be alot easier and since its a lil older the car itself would be cheaper. And you could be money ahead if you sell ur car for a decent price.

pain in the ass? - HAIL F***IN YES!
would i recommend doing it? - if you know what you are doing like me then by all means have fun, the **** is quick.

Hey guys. new to this forum.
I dropped a lightning motor on my 98 gt convertible, still working on the wiring, its a bit of a pain but i think it'll be fun once done. My question to you all is there anything else I can do to the front end to get that motor to sit a little lower, I already installed a tubular K member. that thing still sitting about 6 to 7 inches above the fenders... I'm open to any ideas, been looking at different hoods and haven't seen anything that could work.

dont have any pics of the current mods yet, but I should have it all done in another month. I'll be posting some more pics of the final project. I'm also working on a double din radio bezel for it with a buddy of mine that owns a stereo shop in north jersey cause no one makes a double din kit for it so we'll see
