OK i am getting fire to the plugs but no fuel to the rail, could it just be a bad fuel pump or is there another problem I need to check before dropping the tank

Re: 2000 mustang V6 not starting

when you first turn the key on, door open, do you hear the fuel pump prime?

If no.. get under the hood, and swap the fuel pump relay with another relay like the cooling fan relay (they are marked in your Owner's manual and probably under the fuse box cover, as well) Sorry I can't remember anymore which ones they are off the top of my head

If there are any fuses (there are) check them to see if they're blown

If the above don't work.. :

Is your 'theft' light flashing?

if it's ok, then try disconnecting the fuel cutoff switch, and jumping it with a paperclip or jumper wire (don't bend the terminals/force it in, just make contact) then try again, see if the pump primes..

there is a cut off on the fuel pump in trunk, its a button and I think its behind one of the tail lights, it can be shut off and you need to turn it back on.

Ok great you have spark to the plugs what color is it? Also you say you have fuel to the rails so now I need you to check the pressure needs to be 35 to 55 psi to start and run. Running pressure will be around 40. Again message me with what you find and we will go from there.

Re: 2000 mustang V6 not starting

ok i had it running on starting fluid it is a fuel problem for sure, I jumped the relay in the trunk it did not help and there is not a relay in fuse panal under the hood just fuses and they are good, the theft light flashes when key is off but when you turn the key on it goes off

Re: 2000 mustang V6 not starting

Ok I have another problem. I bought my kid a 95 GT conv,5,0 automatic..the tranny was falling off, bellhousing bolts where all loose and missing we fixed that but now we have a bad vibration at idle and when you kick the passing gear in it feels like its coming apart, the vibration is there rather in part or in gear, I had a freind tell me the balancer sliped is that possible

Re: 2000 mustang V6 not starting

if its an engine harmonic balancer issue it would do it while in neutral, might be something with the TQ converter etc being off since the transmission was not correctly installed and was loose.

Re: 2000 mustang V6 not starting

it does do it in neutral in park all the time really it seems to go away when you give it a little gas but if you try to kick in passing gear its really bad

Re: 2000 mustang V6 not starting

Check for a bent flexplate. The other car sounds like it has a bad fuel pump so look forward to dropping the tank and replacing it.

Re: 2000 mustang V6 not starting

yep I think it is the fuel pump im getting power all the way to where the wires run into the pump, and far as the 95 GT fixed it, it was the Harmonic Balancer went bad
