Re: GEAR INSTALL!!!

where ever you go ask the following questions:

How do you set backlash and to what specifications for my car (vary car to car)

How do you set the crush sleeve for my car

How do you measure gear wear patterns after installed to ensure alignment

How do you set pinion depth for my car

Do you warranty for gear whine, if so how long from install date

Do you warranty breakage, if so how many miles/time

Can I get this all in writing

if they have no clue chances are they cant do it right.

Re: GEAR INSTALL!!!

I know that the ford dealers in my area do it... but im not sure bout yours... it would be a good place to check out because usually they have all the tools and resources to do it... it might be worth a try the ones in Roc vary from like mid 200's to at most 300

Re: GEAR INSTALL!!!

What would happen if i were to put the 3.73 gears instead of 4.10's in my automatic? Like would it not accelerate as good? Reason im askin is because im thinking of supercharging in the future and i read that the 3.73 gears would be better when i do it. Would it benefit me rite now to install the 4.10s for the time being or just do the 3.73s from the get go? What would be the difference for the time being? Thanx

Re: GEAR INSTALL!!!

4.10s work better in an auto due to the auto has worse gearing, so in the end you will wind up with nearing the same gearing overall as a 5 speed with 3.73s. You will be fine with 3.73s but you wont feel as much of a change... you will shave off 2.5 tenths with 3.73s.
