I just installed a CAI

I installed a CAI last week, and this could just be in my head, but it seems like i have a lot more power. I also know every site tells you different HP gains. What is the actual Hp gain in a 2000 3.8L Manual?

A few hp, the throttle response is a bit better but its mostly in our heads. It adds an insignificant amount of power.

6hp/6tq (at the motor not the wheels) your car should feel a 1th of a second quicker at best, sit a 120lb weight in the passenger seat for a couple days then take it out, about the same result.

Re: I just installed a CAI

I installed a BBK CAI a few weeks ago, I noticed the same thing... Especially at higher speeds I really notice it... I know alot of people say the gain is only about 3 HP but id be willing to bet differently... I know other mods do alot more but already I think CAI is underestimated.

Re: I just installed a CAI

It made a difference about 2.5 - 3 car lengths difference and the proof is when my car was 100% stock I raced my friend in his tahoe w/ 4.10 gears and he would take me by about 1 - 1.5 cars. After I put my CAI in I consistently took him by 1 - 1.5 cars. Very pleased w/ the results although I can hear my whistling right before it shifts into the next gear but not a whole lot something you gotta pay attention for.

You must have had a very dirty air filter.

or less weight or better road conditions or more weight in the truck or better gas or...or...or...

3 lengths from an air filter/cai seems like a pretty big jump though either way.

Damn....I missed that part.

With the above information, I must restate my thoughts...

3 lengths from an air filter/cai seems like a pretty small jump...
