Suspension

My Car's going to be paid off in a couple of months. I'm really not interested in trading up and worrying about payments again. So I've been looking around and I am thinking about going with the Ford Racing V6 Coupe Handling Pack. Shocks, struts, springs, sway bar, etc. How much should I reasonably expect to have to shell out to install this? Just a general price range. I have 3 shops I've been told about by other friends who say they know what they're doing but I want to make sure they're not hosing me.

Re: Suspension

overall the install is pretty easy, not to much to it. The issue is XX per hour they charge, generally a spring install will take 2 hours on a lift. Shocks/Struts into that mix add on an other hour.

Caster/Camber plates, maybe another 40 minutes~ then sway bars probably another 45 minutes.

This is of course if it all goes nice and smooth with no issues~ which never happens. Labor is generally 65 an hour or something around that~

So i would say expect 3.5-5 hour of labor to install shocks/struts/springs/sway bars/cc plates at about 65 an hour (might be less but you get the idea) so...

250-350~ I would say 300-350 is probably a fair price for that.

Re: Suspension

What's that handling pack run these days? I remember back when it was first available you could piece together a nice setup for less money...but that may not be the case now.

Re: Suspension

I saw the entire bundle for $995. I tried parting it out seperately and it came to about $1390+. So I figure I might as well go with the bundle and have it installed all at one time. Save up what used to be 3 months of payments and bingo. Better handling.

Re: Suspension

you can do it part by part, might save some. As far as install its probably best to do that all at once if you pay someone or just dont want to keep taking stuff apart.

Yah that's way lower than what I saw...I believe it was $1495 a couple years ago.

Re: Suspension

Looks like the handling kit contains
M-18000-A Shocks/Struts
M-5300-K Lowering Springs
M-5490-A Sway Bars
M-20201-S197 Strut Tower Brace

A nice kit. I did notice that it does not include any CC plates. You may want to include possibly replacing your strut-mounts as part of the installation (~$70). You will also be at the limits of your alignment adjustment once you approach a 1.5" drop and you will see a slight shift of the rear-end to one side without an adj. panhard bar. If that price includes shipping it is a pretty decent deal for what you get.

IMHO

Re: Suspension

I saw that they didn't include the CC plates so I plan on buying some of those as well. Shipping was included and the shop I was hoping for gave me an estimate of $325 for install and all allignment adjustment. Now I jus have to practice patience and get my girl paid off. I've always loved the feeling of a pink slip.
