new mods and a ?

just got my 4.10's, t-lok and a basic flash tune that set my shift points and air/fuel and the other basics. when i start to hit the brake, my car down shifts while im comming to a stop and kinda does a little lurch like it was a manual car, almost like it shifts to early. is this normal, or should i call my mechanic n have him look at it? i have an auto and ive heard that shifting by yourself is very bad for the tranny, so wouldnt this be kinda the same thing? any suggestions?

Re: new mods and a ?

i know its not mechanical, but the mechanic is a tuner.

yea they do make a big difference, but if you dont already have them, get the t-lok on it and get a basic chip tune for your car, it will make a big difference. And get them done all at once cuz it will save in labor. Even tho it cost me $1265 for it all which blows bcuz i didnt expect go be shellin out that much, but that was with the installation of a new right rear axle. The only thing that sucks is that i have to run high test now, but it should run better with it in. when i floor it, it jumps when it goes into each gear just like a manual.

Re: new mods and a ?

you do not have to get a tune if your car will work with a speedcal unit, a tune is better but just an FYI. For my 01 manual I didnt need to alter the tune I just put a speedcal in and took care of it, I didnt need to tweek the auto as I didnt have one (thank goodness)

Looks like he has an auto so the speedcal will not work.

He needs to have his mechanic/tuner adjust the tune.

Re: new mods and a ?

Does it do it when it is shifting down to first? Maybe it is shifting early, if I put my gear selector to first coming to a stop it will chirp tires when it downshifts, doing this like below 25 mph.

Re: new mods and a ?

yea its just like the car is too high of a speed to be put into the gear that it kinda lurches. i did it once by myself a while ago where i was going a lil too fast and put it into third and it lurch hard and spun the tires. im gunna call the mechanic tomorrow and see if he thinks he can change the shift points. he has me running high test but i havent gotten to fill it yet and it is sucking gas like no bodies buisness. it also lurches and spins the tires a little when i floor it. anyone know if its supposed to be doing that or is something timed wrong wih the clutch or something...i have an auto btw

Re: new mods and a ?

i guess its supposed to be that way, i called my mechanic and he said its just the aggressive tune. its just a base tune that changes air/fuel speedo shift timing and the other goodies, just feels wierd cuz im not used to it i guess... all this workin on my car is makin me want to trade mine in and buy a gt or cobra. the thing is, i still owe 10k on my car and its only worth 8,300 for a trade in. not to mention i still have 20k in school loans.......:dunno:
