Just Curious...it might get me motivated LOL

Ok My vortech has not been installed yet...i wanna push more than 5 psi....how do i go about this....Pulleys?belts?...well i know this but i guess im asking what kinda pulleys...noy just name brand but like what actual ones? and upgrading which pulley would give me the most boost...and what other tricks beside intercooling which i plan on doing...and since im asking ill go ahead get all my questions out the way...how much PSI will my stock block hold? like how much will it hold to race someone and how much would be safe to ride around with....and is it pissoble to install a boost controller where i can actually adjust the boost? and LOL....can most of alllllll.....can install a BAD A$$ sequential bov LOL....i love that noise man im sorry i really do...u can call it ricey or whateva but honeslty that the only reason i preffered Turbo over a sc is becuase the bov but once i found out i could intercool it and the way the vortech is set up it is almost like a BIG A$$ Turbo thats been oddly placed LOL...so i think if it has enough boost going that way maybe we need to let off a little pressure LOL

I'm gonna ignore all your technical/supercharger related questions and ask where the hell have you been? lol

the only pulley u have to change is the actual supercharger pulley. id say 9psi is safe but no more than 11 psi. its really about the tune

ZEBS im the exact same way. I love the turbo bov, thats why i was totally against superchargers( i know thats sad ) but it is something i love to hear. The procharger bov sounds similar. Just look it up on youtube...

On a stock engine I would recommend no more than 8psi. The biggest thing you'll need is a dead-on dynotune. Not a mailorder or a tune that someone says worked on another car...you will need to get the car on a dyno and have it professionally tuned for that setup.

Re: Just Curious...it might get me motivated LOL

You could look into impeller upgrades as well for more boost, though as said on a stock engine I wouldn't push more than 8-9psi.

Re: Just Curious...it might get me motivated LOL

You are a ricer, because the only reason you prefer turbo over s/c is the bov sound. Not the fact that its more efficient or any of the actual performance reasons...

Now that I've gotten that out the way.

The pulley on the s/c itself will incrase your boost pressure, with an intercooler 11-13 psi should be the most you push just make sure its tuned fat. Sure you could convert your setup from draw through to suck through and instead of running the buy pass valve run a blow off valve since its "basically" a belt driven turbo... Is it possible to install a boost controller with a centrifugal supercharger yes, its sort of pricey but it can be done ... HOWEVER its like most people who know nothing about car audio and have bass knobs, I used to see them in the shop every week wondering why they fried subwoofers, in this case blowing motors up isn't something most people can do every other week.

Getting kind of expensive for a few more pounds of boost aren't we? Buy the time that's done you might as well eBay a used T-trim.

Re: Just Curious...it might get me motivated LOL

Remember its not always the amount of boost it's the effeciency of the amount that nets you HP. The intercooler will net you more power with less PSI. Its hard to say what PSI you should expect...you didn't say which vortech you have and what size pulley. The stock 3.6 will net you about 5-6 PSI intercooled. On average each pulley size you decrease you gain 1-2 PSI. A powerpipe will net you a few PSI usually, not always. There are a ton of variables that contribute to the overall health of your engine under boost. I hope this helps!

If thats your only #1 reason....

I do love that sound though, but only time you get to hear it is when you in a car with an eaton, or when you ahead of one and its whining trying to catch up

Re: Just Curious...it might get me motivated LOL

Im still trying to decide between a intercooled D1SC procharger setup or M112. The whines a plus but its more for the low end torque. Now if only we could get it intercooled.

Low end torque see thats a non ricer reason, your good

It doesn't need to be intercooled, unless your planning on doing a bunch of back to back constant pulls.

Turbo > D1sc , go that route!

Hi,
there is no intercooler or practical way to intercool it besides using meth.

What if you could find a small radiator (small oil cooler, or AC) that would fit inside the adapter and run lines to a reservior full of nearly frozen alchahol. Pump near freezing alchahol thru the lil radiator.

Matt has tried to come up with a ton of solutions, none of them are practical, or could be used without a 4+" cowl hood.

And for the people who don't want to spend 3x the money on custom fabbing an intercooler, there is turbo.

Re: Just Curious...it might get me motivated LOL

I'm running 8lbs and am at the end of the road, as far as my bottom end is concerned. And the only pully thats recommended to mess with is the supercharger pully. Idk, what size pully you have on yours, more than likely a 4" (if you're running 5lbs). Bear in mind, for every .1" you go down in pully size, you gain 10hp and 1lb of boost. so, push it as far as you feel comfortable.

What hp are you making at 8lbs to be at the end of the road on your bottom?

I have been told and researched that for 99-04 3.8 bottom ends are good up to 350hp. And I'm at 340.
