Re: newb question

People do it all the time. I did it, just make sure you get it professionally painted unless you're pretty good with a gun or it'l turn out not quite right. Magnaflow is a good choice and they are pretty good about not rusting. However, if you want a deeper sound, Flowmaster is the way to go. The only downside is they rust faster than the magnaflows.

Re: newb question

The GT rear bumper will make the dual exhaust look like it's done right

Re: newb question

v6's sound pretty good with dual exhaust, the issue is higher rpms get raspy since its an even fire motor~ but nothing you can do about it.

Re: newb question

^+1 Magnaflows are not a good choice...pair them up with an x-pipe and you committing exhaust suicide. Even though better performance gains are better with them, the sound is not worth it.

I'd go with dual flowmasters, probably in the 40 series ~ super, delta, regular

Anything chambered is going to sound the best with either the stock y, divorced piping, or an h-pipe.

As far as trying to imitate a GT or "be" a GT, you're not. Here's how I look at it. The GT hood with the scoop was offered as an option within the pony package...so 03-04 v6's did come with hood scoops from the factory. As far as exhaust, all mustangs should've had dual exhaust from the factory, simple as that, there were plenty of other differences that separated the v6 from the GT...they're finally doing that now for the 2011s.

So getting dual exhaust only makes sense, and as beaner said it looks way better with the cutouts - GT bumper. I have the GT hood and GT bumper and love it...get tons of compliments, and I still have the tri bar pony emblems on the sides and rear, and the "3.8L" sticker on the top of the fan housing, so I'm not trying to be a GT. Next on the list are the GT sidescoops

Re: newb question

Yah people have mixed opinions about them. I personally don't mind them for now...eventually I want to go flow 40's/h-pipe/lt's, but that's down the road.

Just don't get the x-pipe system...the street pros offered by Pypes have a different sound...they are a straight thru style, but don't sound as bad as other straight thru's imo, but with the x-pipe they get pretty nasty above 3k...they have a tone similar to a 350 Z or something along those lines with a fairly deep rumble at idle.

They are a quiet muffler though, which really is a good thing with the v6...noticeable but not obnoxious.

If you want the "this is what a mustang is supposed to sound like" original 40s are on top of that list. If you want "this is what n/a 300zx is supposed to sound like" anything straight through: pypes, magnaflow, slp, etc, etc.

Re: newb question

I think the general agreement amongst fellow sixers would be flowmaster 40's...or one of the 40's styles.

But if they're is something else you like get it, it's your car.

Re: newb question

Meh, I'll keep my rustmasters. Which I shouldn't really say mine since I'm selling it, but I'd pick Flow's over that anyday.
