Questions 02 v6

I have a stock 02 v-6 convertable with about 60k miles on and I'm wondering what I can do to make it faster. My b/f is a very good mechanic but is new to mustangs, he told me the usual bolt on's exhaust, intake, and maybe a supercharger. I've been reading other threads about single-to-splitport conversions and some engine swaps but my b/f couldn't tell me much about either of those.

What do I need to swap in a v-8?

What is a split port conversion?

I'm new to this site and I would apperiate any suggestions or anything that is somewhat helpful.....Thanks

Your 2002 V6 Mustang is already equipped with the Split Port Heads and Intakes. The 1994-1998 V6 Mustangs are Single Port and a common thing for 94-98 V6 Mustang owners to do is to swap the heads/intakes and fuel lines from a 1999-2004 V6 Mustang into their 1994-1998 V6 Mustang. The Split Port Intakes and heads flow better and produce more horsepower.

As far as swapping a V8 in you will need to get a 4.6 V8 from a GT and basically the whole GT as a donor car. It's not cheap. I would go a different route.

You can do all the bolt ons on your V6 like your boyfriend recommended. A Supercharger is a good option but will set you back a good 2,000 dollars.

A popular modification is an X-Cal 2 from VMP Tuning Inc which allows you to firm up your shift points, increase your timing and get a decent amount of horsepower and torque from it.

swaping a motor/trans kills the resale value. I would look to modify it not swap out the drivetrain. The first step is determine a goal you want to reach for the car be it running a given time on the track or having a given amount of hp/tq. Once you have done that we can help you to find the parts to make that happen.

As it sits the car has (stock) 193hp/225tq and between the engine and the rear wheels loses 17.5%~(manual) to 23.0%~(auto) power from the engine to the wheels.
