Stock air intake

I read on one of the forms that taking the boot off the stock air intake wood make the car breath better and maybe run better any thoughts. Ponyboy

Yea I did that to start and really didnt notice anything. However, I didnt notice anything from the cai either. Go with a cai for looks though. And it'll probably help some with a tune.

Re: Stock air intake

Yah that intake silencer can be removed. Ford put that big *** snorkel in there to grab air better but I don't think it really does anything. I took mine out as well shortly after I got the car, but then upgraded to an AM CAI...cheap, looks good, maybe worth some better throttle response and an hp or 2...personally I don't really care, lol.

Re: Stock air intake

it helps, sure, not very much at all, your not going to feel any difference, its a free mod to mess around with though.

Re: Stock air intake

Yah it's a great way for one to tear into their car a little bit and get familiar/comfortable with taking something in/out of the engine bay. There's really not too much you can mess up when taking the silencer out.

Re: Stock air intake

I got a BBK CAI, works great! No noice except the wonderful sucking of air, worth the 199 bucks from AM! Improved throttle response, and horsepower gain, I would upgrade!

Re: Stock air intake

I agree.. it doesn't matter how much you spend on a CAI ... you'll get the same results.. maybe 1 or 2 more HP at best from a stock setup .. but they sure look cool ... They will come into play a "little" more after doing your exhaust and a good tune... otherwise it's just for show... and they sound really cool at full throttle...
