Tires, rims

I need a little advice, their is a guy selling rims on another mustang website, I will eventually have to get new tires for my car because of inspection. Mine is a '05, he is selling his stock 18" rims and tires from his '08 gt. Would they fit.

Re: Tires, rims

yes. As far as I know all 05-09 wheels/tires are interchangeable. Your Speed-o-meter will be off slightly with (I'm assuming) the larger tires and wheels.

--oops, once I wrote this I need to clarify. As long as your upsizing (ie 17" to 18") or staying with the same diameter your fine. You may have problems downsizing (ie 18" to 17") because of interference with the brake rotors. If you have a V6, you will be fine with any GT or Shelby tire/wheels produced for 05-09.

Also, it is a really inexpensive (and easy) change to upgrade your V6 brakes to GT specs if you go with the larger wheels on the 05+ cars.

Re: Tires, rims

they will fit if they have the stock tire size, to double check calculate the overall tire height of his tires vs you current ones, should be close to the same (so you wont have any speedo calibration issues)

Take the rim height, multiply it by 25.4 to convert to MM

Take the tire size say 235/55/17 say make the middle number a percentage (.55)

235 * .55 = X thats the sidewall height in MM, multiply that by 2 (top and bottom of tire) then add that to the number above (rim size * 25.4) thats the overall height of the tire. Do the same for both, should come out close to the same (not perfect but quite close)

As far as just the rims they will fit from any 05-09 mustang to any other.

Re: Tires, rims

I'm not worried about the calibration part, I have a tuner to adjust it, I just needed to make sure they fit. Hopefully he hasn't sold them.
