Unhappy Chattering noise....

Ok well I had my OEM clutch replaced - made it to 190k miles - Replaced it with a Spec stage 1 clutch and a spec billet flywheel. Got everything installed for $400... Well issue now is when the car is turned on theres a chatter/rattle noise when idleing and a bit when driving at lower speeds. I have a vaccum leak I know this because my check engine light is on. Well when I press the clutch in this noise goes away.... Is the spec TOB ****ting out?! JUST had the clutch put in 2 weeks ago did the 500 miles of breaking the new clutch/flywheel in.... anyone had this problem before? cos seriously my car is REALLY starting to piss me off -

Any info/help would be great... thanks again guys

Well I found this on youtube.... my stang is doing the same noise when you press on the gas when the car is in netural.... I'm starting to freak out a bit... Anyone able to tell me wtf is going on, I honestly don't have the $ for more crap....

Re: Chattering noise....

some say spec's chatter all the time, some say they chatter and go away, some say theirs never chatter... not sure on this.

Does it go away if you just barely push in the clutch petal, if so its the throwout bearing (the one that comes with the spec clutch is a POS)

Re: Chattering noise....

All of the issues w/ chattering go away when I press the clutch in a bit. When I press on the clutch and the gas my car revs fine. When I just have the car in netural and I press on the gas around 1500 - 2000 rpm my stang does the same thing the one in that youtube video does. So you think it's the TOB?

Re: Chattering noise....

hmm generally if you just barly touch the clutch petal and the noise goes away its the throwout bearing, ive had one in my car go bad after two days... hopefully they will replace it free. Ford has a ford racing version that I would use.

Re: Chattering noise....

Yea, well since you just had the work done see if they will fix it (they can inspect the throwout bearing without dropping the transmission)

You CAN take a notch up on your clutch by self forced adjustment that would fix it if not or band aid the issue till a later point.

Crawl under the floor board on the drivers side, face down, put one hand on the clutch quadrant above the gas petal and push the clutch petal in with the other hand. As you let the clutch petal up with your left hand hold tension on the clutch quadrent to keep it from moving how its going to want to move (you cant stop it just hold tension as it travels) then it will click as the clutch gets close to out (noticeable) do this once, twice max.

Go drive the car test to make sure your safe by going 45 or 55 mph hold the gas constant and ease in on the clutch if you push it in a half inch or so before the rpms jump up your should be fine. This will help the noise until you can get it looked at.

To unadjust just lift up on the underside of the clutch petal, hard shifts may unadjust it as well fyi.

Re: Chattering noise....

I'll give that a try spector ( as soon as this damn storms stop... Southland of chicago was hit with some pretty heavy storms, two collided less then 3 miles from my house wreaking havoc... ) also one question i have is what would cause the chattery/vibration noise when around 1500 -2000 rpm?

Re: Chattering noise....

not sure, it may turn out to not be the throwout, I would let the shop investigate it since you just got it done, they should take care of it if they are decent.
