Angry Imitating is Irritating

So, I keep getting asked if I live in a certain part of town (which isn't very big, btw) because friends and co-workers keep seeing a Sonic Blue Sixxer that supposedly looks a little too much like mine... all the way down to the wheels. I know they aren't exact but this car looks enough like mine that the two are being mixed up. (I know some people are going to have the same parts or theme going on but there are many options to choose from, people!) I have not seen this car yet, but I'm thinking that somebody is trying to gank my style. I'm not too thrilled about it. My friend is going to take a photo of it for me just so I can see what's similar. I may have to step up my game some. I just picked up a second job so it won't be long before I can start modding again.

I may switch over to some Chrome Saleens and a '95 Cobra R Hood. I also found a GT bumper for $100 (unpainted).

Thoughts? Ideas?

Re: Imitating is Irritating

Obviously somebody else likes the look too. I'm not really doing it just to be different. I have had these things on my upcoming mod list for awhile anyway. I'm just thinking I may start ordering them a hell of a lot sooner.

Just saying, sometimes imitating is not the highest form of flattery, but just damn annoying.

Well you seem to have pretty common mods. I think most people go with those. Now if they have the same rims, then maybe they saw your car and liked them. I dont see why it matters anyway.

I understand that they are fairly common mods. I'm just saying it's annoying, I'm not going crazy over it or anything. I just think people should be a little bit more original.

and I meant the 1995 Style Cobra R hood made for the 99-04's.

Well, they do look good.

I'm just kind of venting, I guess? It's not like I have malicious intentions for this "clone"... I guess I really should be flattered, but I'm just annoyed.

Just kidding... I think your car is the first time I've seen wheels like that on a mustang

Damn, busted.

I've only seen them on a few other Mustangs on different forums but not many.

Thanks. I like the Mach look for the front end, so I think I'm going to keep the front similar besides AM smoked headlights, hood and maybe order some factory fogs. I am in love with the Roushe side exhaust but my car scrapes sometimes as it is, so I don't know. I think I'm just going to order a GT back bumper.

Side scoops, quarter window scoops, spoiler, blackout panel, new wheels (which you mentioned), maybe a shaker hood scoop, what about racing stripes? I didn't read other responses so I'm sure all of these where mentioned, I live in orange county, ca where it seems every single damn person id trying to be bigger, faster, and well the same, cobras, ferrari's,lambos etc. It drives me crazy too, so I added allthe things I listed for a little recognition...hope it helps...

Thanks! I think so too. I'm not putting on the actual 1995 Cobra R hood, but the 1995 STYLE Cobra R Hood made for my body style so there should be no problems with fit.

I would love a Shaker Hood and I love the Mach 1 look for my front end, but I think I want to switch it up and still do the '95 STYLE Cobra R Hood. There's just something about the cowl. I am definitely putting GT side scoops eventually. I'm not the biggest fan of Racing Stripes unless they look damn good. I had a big silver rocker stripe on the side of mine and I had to take it off. Thanks for the advice!

It's all about power to some people, even if yours might look a hell of a lot better. I get hassled about having a V6 all of the time...
