Re: shift kit????????????

search "transgo" or "B&M" valve body shift kit in google... that should give you some results.

Re: shift kit????????????

Something you might want to look into instead of a shift kit would be a tune with aggresive shifts programmed in. I looked into shift kits for my 02 and decided instead of messing with the transmission I would just buy a chip with the tune on there. With the chip my car would chirp shifting from 1-2 and the rest of the shifts were very firm. When I went with my XCAL2 you can actually adjust how hard you want it to shift, on the setting my tuner sent me 1-2 on the 16's would throw me sideways and it chirps 2-3. On the 18's it just catches.

Re: shift kit????????????

dont go transgo on 99+ google the J mod or just get a tune and see if that satisfies you.

Re: shift kit????????????

Ok, the tuner sounds good. Im not that automotively experienced so I definatly want something thats easier to do. Honestly though Im not sure exactly what you mean by "chirping at 1-2 " or anything like that. Im not mature enough in the car world to understand your vocabulary. So if you could explain it to me like a kindigardner, I'd be very appreciative. Thanks.

Re: shift kit????????????

By chirping 1-2, hes talking about when the transmission shifts from 1st to second gear... his tires will spin slightly giving that "chirp".

Re: shift kit????????????

On a 99+ auto the only correct "shift kit" is the J-mod.

Re: shift kit????????????

Over at TCCoA (www.tccoa.com), in the tech articles under Transmission 101, they have a complete article on how to do the JMod.

I just did the modifications to the Valve body and changed the springs and accumulators according to the specs listed and have been very happy.

Many T-bird and few Mustang people are jealous of me and my "JMod".
