Question Side exhaust

Pros and cons before I pull the trigger on my exhaust I thought I would ask your thoughts on a side Exhaust. What parts would I need, Ground effects on the sides do I need it on the front and back to look good or just the sides. Price differances any opinions on all of It. Thanks Ponyboy

I would definately do new side skirts to go with it. Id do the rousch side skirts like meteorachick, mustang of the month, has. Im not sure about fitment issues on a v6. Keep the stock back. I believe the skirts sit lower, so your front bumper may look out of place. A chin spoiler might fix that up though. How much are you looking to spend?

Re: Side exhaust

^ I agree with that defiantly get the skirts.

I would just do a custom setup unless you set on Side Exit Exhaust.

Re: Side exhaust

Forgot to mention, you will end up paying a hell of a lot more for a side exhaust. Especially if you buy a kit. I paid under $600 for my setup and in my opinion it is the best a v6 will sound until you dive into the engine or do a blower setup. Id do mac longtubes and o/r h with a flowmaster catback.

Re: Side exhaust

I have side exhaust. it great i love the looks i get. the problem with side exhaust is finding a muffler to fit under the car. infact it was my main problem. I 've had borla mufflers no mufflers and now currently use glass packs. As far as cost goes depends on weither you get a prefabed kit or have one made. needless to say Ive spent a large amount of change for parts and labor in the past 3yrs. but i got the results i wanted. look at pics and you'll see the the many differernt exhaust mods i made.

No I sure dont. But they have the same setup as mine on youtube. However, if youre doing a turbo, it'll have to be changed. I dont believe you can use the longtubes for a turbo setup. At least I havent seen it done so far.

Re: Side exhaust

I've seen a lot of "homemade" styled side exhausts on v6's. It looks like they custom fabbed some piping after the cats and out the sides just before the rear tires...some did a single exit on the driver's side, others did a dual setup.

As SaturnMan said, finding mufflers that'll fit with the piping is the tough part.

Another suggestion would be dumps...doing this setup will allow you to use normal piping and any mufflers you want, and the sound will be pretty good. A deeper tone will result due to the turndown tips reverberating the sound off the ground under the car.

You can either dump them right after the mufflers (before the rear axle) or after the axle just before the bumper. Either way you'll keep the stock bumper and save some money. The only negative about dumps before the axle is that they might get loud when on long trips...all that noise is going to be right under the cabin where you sit. Keeping cats will help keep the noise at bay.

Re: Side exhaust

okay from someone who has the side exhaust setup...

...it starts up quiet, but has a NICE sound higher up. everyone likes it, it looks badass on the car and it is unique, only one other person in my area has it.

here are the only problems.
-ginormous puddles. don't get water up in them.
-already had to replace the tips on each side from getting bent from bumps in the road

otherwise, i highly recommend them

Re: Side exhaust

I got the eleanor body kit and it comes with side exit. Looking sweet so far, it gives u the rear hole delete valance. (covers the rear holes.) The tips that come with the set are sick.

Cervini has the kit for v6s
