Re: Pypes

never heard of pypes either, i would probably stick to something a little more known so you don't wind up with a world of problems with it

Re: Pypes

I don't know of any Pypes products beyond the X pipe. I have seen and heard an offroad pypes X pipe and it is a good piece. I believe they make the mid pipes for UPR as well. However, I don't know of any catbacks from them, but I haven't looked into them either.

I have a pypes offroad X in my kitchen, very good product, couldn't tell you about the catbacks though.

Re: Pypes

i bought the pypes cat back exhaust w/ the y-pipe. i don't recommend them. the y-pipe had fitment issues, the mufflers they shipped left a lot to be desired. i ended up having to replace the muffler with force automotive mufflers, had the shop take out my y-pipe and weld two exhaust pipes to make it a true dual. the only thing i was able to use from the kit were the tailpipes. go with a better known company. jmho.

Re: Pypes

how do the force automotive mufflers sound?? I heard a pypes system on a V6 a really long time ago and I remember it sounding okay. I need advice on a new system. I have heard of people doing it the way you did. Is that expensive?? Thanks.

Re: Pypes

Cost me about 300.00 for a true dual system and that included the 2 flowmasters 40 A.K.A Chokemasters

Re: Pypes

how does that sound? I had a guy cut out my stock muffler, put in a 40 series flowmaster, and then make a custom dual outlet job. The way he did it tho, when its cold out, smoke only exits through one pipe and it looks stupid. Plus the flowmaster doesn't sound that great either. Could that be because there is only one muffler?

Re: Pypes

the force automotive mufflers sound great on my v6. they sound like flowmasters, but does not get high pitched at high rpms. i recommend them as a lower priced alternative to flowmasters. they cost $32.95 from summitracing.com. i ordered two of them, and then with the custom work that the shop had to do, and the pypes system that i bought (which was a mistake), i paid about $470 total for a true dual exhaust. i did not have an h or x pipe installed. force automotive muffler sound great for the price. best thing to do is find a gt exhaust take off, replace the mufflers with your choice of mufflers, and have a shop cut off your y-pipe, weld the gt take off to your exhaust and you've got a true dual exhaust for less than $300, depending on how much the muffler shop charges for labor. i've seen gt take offs go for $100 at some other forums. hth.

here's one here. might work for you since you've got the same year..

I have a pypes true dual on my V6. It isn't a bad system. I paid bout 300 for it At idle, it shakes the interior, and it loud It quiets down when cruising at low rpms, but louder higher up If you want something loud, go with the pypes pro-V mufflers, or a different system. I have the race pros. Go to pypesexhaust.com for sound clips.
