Question Clicking from the a\c

during the summer when i was running the air conditioner it would make a clicking sound, almost like the the compressor kept clicking on and off. and it would do it continuously. i took it to the dealership and asked them whyit was doing it. they said that it could be because of me leaving it on max a/c and just keeping the fan on 1 or 2. so i took their advice, but it still made the noise. what do i need to do? is there something wrong?

hmm see if you can duplicate this with the hood up and you listening to the engine, make sure you can trace it to the compressore clicking (engaging the clutch on/off) if so then there may be a problem with the sensor that tells the clutch when to engage/disengage.

Re: Clicking from the a\c

Your low pressure switch might be stuck closed, turn the a/c on ,close the vents and set the fan on low. Give it a few minutes to freeze up the evaporator when this happens you should see the compressor start clicking on and off, if the compressor stays on the whole time then the low pressure switch is probably stuck closed and need to be replaced.

If it's under warranty keep carrying it to them until they fix it. It'll drive them crazy but they'll eventually figure out what it is and fix it. Another guy on this site has been having noises from his 05, ends up his manifold is leaking. Took several trips to the dealer for them to finally figure out what it was.

Re: Clicking from the a\c

I'd take it to a different dealership. All Max A/C does is recirculate the air that is currently in the cabin. Having the fan at a low setting with Max A/C on will have no negative impact.

Scary stuff.
