So, I've decided I want to get a dual exhaust for my v-6, i'm wondering if that's even possible, is it? and if it is, either dual or not, i want to get flowmaster, what do you guys think? thanks<3

Re: flowmaster exhaust?

It is very possible, any muffler shop should be able to help you out, there are also a number of aftermarket options..

As for flowmaster, I loved the sound of it on my 5.0.. I hated it on my 4.6.. I'd say steer clear of it for the v6, go with basically any other brand..
Just my opinion, though

I have Flow duals with an H-pipe on mine and I like it... I have recently thought about looking into a MAC pro-chamber, though.

Re: flowmaster exhaust?

Yah, exhaust on a v6 is completely different from a v8. Whatever you do, get chambered mufflers...Pypes street pros, flowmaster 40's, basically any mufflers that are 2 or 3 chambered style will sound better than straight thru style mufflers ~ magnaflow, cherry bombs etc.

Dual flowmasters with an o/r h-pipe is going to sound really good at idle and below 2000rpms, but above it will be higher pitched and full of drone. But there's really no way to completely eliminate that...unless you buy a v8

Smile Re: flowmaster exhaust?

Had the same problem your having a month a go, went to you tube the same car on different computers sounded different took the advice of some off the guys on the site and went to the muffler shop cut off the Y pipe added Flowmater 40's with 18" stainless tips straight back and I am more then happy good price sounds great loud enough to here a great sound and still enjoy a road trip. You'll spend $300.00 to $450.00 depending on the shop and you'll be more then happy. Don't get caught up in spending a ton of money on a Big dollar exhaust it's very easy to get caught up in it. In my opinion hope this helps. Ponyboy

umm, r u crazy? or just dont know what youre talking about? flowmasters r the only way to go on a v6. do an o/r h-pipe as well if you can so you dont have to go back later and do it.

i love my exhaust for being a v6 and dont really think it can get better without engine work or a blower.

Well if you come to LSU, you can hear it very well. I dont have any vids of it, but there are people with my setup on youtube. It makes a world of difference once you do the longtubes and o/r h-pipe.

There is definitely a huge difference. YouTube is a great resource, I would also ask other v6 owners what their exhaust setup is to get ideas & figure out what you like. Everyone has different opinions on what brand is best, MagnaFlow is my by far my favorite as well as Borla and I'm in the process of getting my exhaust finished. It also depends how loud/deep you want it to sound. Good luck!

Re: flowmaster exhaust?

I got a v6 05 mustang with true duals and a h pipe. Sounds ok. A v6 just ain't going to saound like a v8. Anyway I'm getting jbashorty headers and see any sound difference. But yea. It ain't...too bad

Re: flowmaster exhaust?

I have had all kinds of mufflers for my car. Borla, Cherry Bomb(glass packs) Magnaflow, etc. But I now have Flowmasters Super 44's. I love them. I think they are the "Best" Sound for a V6. Very deep and not much drone. From what I have notice most people on here use Flowmasters, either 40's Delta, Super 40's or Super 44's. For a more mild sound you could go with a larger 3chamber like a the 50's delta flow.

i think i've decided on going with the 44's, now i dont know about the piping. just do mufflers? or full catback like i was wanting.

Make sure you are buying the catback though lol.. Because if you're shopping for "mufflers" and order one, that's what they will send you.. ONE muffler. I did it when I was first shopping for my mustang's exhaust.

wow that sucks.first time ive heard that.
but as long as you order 2 mufflers you should be ok. most muffler shops should carry Flowmasters. The ones need you can get from americanmuscle.com. I got mine off ebay for less money but they took a while to get them.

My buddy has the FRPP setup on his 4.0 (you got the Grabber Blue 4.0 right?) and I like it. If I was going to put an exhaust setup Id go with the FRPP.

Original 40s sound the best, super 44s are after them just because they are a tad bit raspy(er). I speak from experience, I've been through like 8 exhaust setups, 2 engines, 4 different cams :p
