After 39,000 trouble free miles It died

Just got done eating at the local country buffet Started the car just fine drove thru the parking lot, turn on the main road and it DIED !!!! push the car in a parking lot lifted the hood and had Denise crank it over ,it tried to start but was coughing and spurrting then I notice the under drive pully wiggling !!!!!
Called a buddy up said HELP we check all the bolts they we're tight took off the pulley and belt .crank it some more Looks no oil leaks like I 'll have to replace the harmonic balancer and hope to hell the crank isn't ****ed Any input is welcomed

Re: After 39,000 trouble free miles It died

It's alive !!!! It was exactly what I was told it would be !!! The balancer crack at the neck thankfully the crank wasn't damaged .
Had to replace ithe 25% UDP with a stock one and up course my stock one got lost in the last move
So i spent 112.00 for the balancer 46.00 new belt at the stealership and 1.5 hrs of my time would of been quicker with some air tools and a few less smoke breaks took it out for a ride and all is good

Re: After 39,000 trouble free miles It died

If by piggyback you mean a 2 piece pullie ( UDP pully bolts up to UDP suppiled balancer) setup then yes !!
I'm gonna try and contact VMP Tuning (who I purchased from 7 years ago) or one of the site sponsors to see if i can get just the balancer and then reinstall the UDP
But I can't truthfully say I noticed any lost of power going back to stock and doing the install in a carport is a pain in the *** !!! The hardest part turned out to be getting the belt tentsioner to cooperate

Yeah !! Kinda of funny feeling relief when a part from your motor falls off in 3 pieces. I knew then the crank wasn't twisted .I checked for any metal damage to the front of the crank all looked good keyway wasn't damaged So I'm very happy

Re: After 39,000 trouble free miles It died

if its aftermarket pulley/balancer wise it may have just worked itself out as it takes a ton of tq to put it on, and might take a while to work loose, either way it does NOT take much in terms of movment for the computer to trip a CEL misfire code if the balancer is loose, so you cant have drove it loose for long, hopefully its ok.
