Re: V6 Dual Exhaust

havent quite figured out how to get sound bites.

When I start it up cold, the rpms are higher untill it settles down, but that is when the pipes roar pretty good, then the rpms drop along w/the sound. Some friends of mine at work said they heard me start up and leave, and they were a good distance away.

Re: V6 Dual Exhaust

I have a single flow master, it sounds ok, but not as good as i would like. I wonder if having 2 mufflers changes it at all.

Re: V6 Dual Exhaust

I have 2 but the way the shop did it, the exhaust fumes only exit through the left tail pipe but the right tail pipe is connected so you can still hear the engine. It looks stupid in the winter though when it smokes.

Re: V6 Dual Exhaust

I had a set up like that b4, I prefer the true dual exhaust. Keep the 2 1/4" piping. It's going to keep messing w/your head if youre truley not happy w/it. I hate things that nag me in the back of my mind.

Re: V6 Dual Exhaust

I know Im a little late on this but I felt I should get my opinion in here.

Bassani, they sound amazing on our cars.
Also MAC, even though they are one of the cheapest, sound great.

The way I have my exhaust setup is so that the piping gets bigger as it moves away from the engine.
1-5/8" Headers -> 2" cut Y(deleted first cats) -> 2-1/2" muffs-> 3"Tips

Seems like it deepens the sound alot, I noticed real deep tone even when I was basically stock(exhaust, CAI, Tune, and Pulleys). Also I pass emissions with ease minus 2 cats.

Re: V6 Dual Exhaust

If I ever redo my exhuast in the future, it will be w/your set up or maybe on the next one. I hear a lot of good things about Bassani. I did notice the precat and the cat, I didnt know u could delete 2 and still pass emmisions, I'm in CA and spent the extra $ to ensure my CAI would have no issues.

Re: V6 Dual Exhaust

yeah it does mess with my head. I have spent alot on the exhaust already though and I do not really want to spend any more. I guess I'll just have to look around. Kiljosh, how is the sound minus 2 cats?? You said its deeper but is it raspy??

Re: V6 Dual Exhaust

Theres a vid with a flyby of it at the end. I was going 95 at about 3200 rpms I wanna say.

It isnt that whiney but it definitley turned the volume up at idle. Also remeber I dont have a stock motor so it may sound a little raspier.

Re: V6 Dual Exhaust

This is a dumb question but I don't know too much about this stuff. What exactly does an aftermarket came do?? While I was checking your video, I went looking around and I came across a video of a 97 regal that had cam work done, correct me if I am wrong but aren't they v6s?? That car sounded amazing..

Chances are it was a VX cam, and likely SLP exhaust, but 3.8 fords do not have the same exhaust note, a cammed mustang 3.8 will definitely sound different, also

sounds good, I like the look of the mach 1 tips. Did you get a take off exhaust and have them put in the dynomax mufflers??

Re: V6 Dual Exhaust

umm I started off with side pipes, I went with the dynomax mufflers due to they are about 3" shorter then stock, then a buddy i worked with had a 03 Mach and he went with a SLP loudmouth exhaust so he gave me everything he had for $50. so i welded it up to the mufflers and out the back it went. i think it sounds good, kinda more of a flow thro sound at idle, but when ur driving sounds good. most people ask if its a 5.0 or 4.6/ i smile and say 3.8

Re: V6 Dual Exhaust

Yea it does!

I would say your next move is to move your spoiler back and then some nice rims.

Re: V6 Dual Exhaust

i just got my exhaust put on yesterday true duals flowmaster 40 series it sounds just like my 89 mustang 5.0 when i crank it but then the rpms drop and it rumbles. it sounds awesome around 2500 rpms. they are BA the closest ive come to a v8 sound.

Re: V6 Dual Exhaust

Just got the cracks in both exhaust manifolds welded. Sounds WAY better. My engine dosnt make this rattling sound anymore. and the pipes sound deeper under and in back. The throttle is much more responsive with pick up. I bought new headers, but I got a family friend to do the work and weld them instead, saved me $200 on parts.
