#3 and #5 misfire

Hi everyone.. i hate for my first post to be about a problem but it is...
Anyway I bought a 94 Mustang gt with 3.8L engine a while back and recently the check engine light came on.. took it to the local Autozone and they pulled the code for misfire on #3 and #5 I was hoping someone could give a little advice on this problem.. i'm going to replace the plugs and wires tomorrow they look pretty worn.. but if this doesn't correct the error could it be a bad coil?

It sounds like the plugs and wires could be most of the problem. If that doesn't do the trick I would replace the coil's on those cylinders.

Re: #3 and #5 misfire

Just a note to relate some troubles I've had with miss fires that most people don't think about. Keep in mind that a miss fire can also be caused by a bad injector, like to have never found my problem, drove me crazy for two years.

Re: #3 and #5 misfire

Since the car probably is in need to plugs and plug wires. If it still is there inspect coil packs or replace as they probably need it to. If its still there then inspect injectors.

Also when you change your plugs check the TQ on your harmonic balancer (especially if it has an after market one) as if they start to get loose miss fire codes will fire since the sensor ring on it is out of alignment with the sensor that reads the crank pulley turning.
